EZ with CZ: Mask off your borders

Hi friends! Happy Wednesday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Cathy Zielske back to our blog with the latest edition of EZ with CZ! Read on and be sure to watch the video for all the details! Enjoy!

Hello crafty friends! It’s Cathy Z. here with another installment of EZ with CZ. Today is all about simple border masking using the brand new Very Very Low Tack Tape from Simon Says Stamp. This new tape makes is SO easy to create quick, even borders on any card front or panel.

Once you set up your mask, grab a favorite stencil (I used the Dimensional Stars set), and add your design. When you peel and reveal you’ll have a gorgeous border and best of all, your paper will not tear!

Here is my tutorial showing you how I created this simple card:

Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween with Shari Carroll
Welcome, everyone!! It’s Shari here with some fun pocket cards that I created using the new Tim Holtz Sizzix Halloween. I have quite a variety because I couldn’t just choose one!

This first pocket features the Acorns 3D Texture Fades Embossing Folder. I used the folder to emboss watercolor paper, but before I embossed, I tapped the folder with a bit of Scattered Straw Distress ink for a Letterpress look. Then I brayered Walnut Stain ink over the paper (avoiding the acorns) to darken the highest peaks. From there, I used Distress inks to paint the leaves and acorns. I used Gilding Foundry Wax on a Floral Adornment and put everything onto a creamy yellow die-cut and stamped pocket.

This next pocket features the Pumpkin Duo set used with layers of Craft Consortium papers. I’ve also used the Alphanumeric Theory dies with Simon Says Stamp Flaming Orange Glitter Paper. The pocket was clear embossed using the Tim Holtz Newsprint stamp and splattered with Harvest Moon Distress Mica Stain.

This guy was so fun! I die cut Spencer with Black, Slate, and white cardstock. I gently ink blended Hickory Smoke for the upper layers, lightening my touch with each new layer. I created a background of Black Soot, Twisted Citron, and Villainous Potion. I stamped the Geo Aria background with Clear Embossing ink for the pocket and brushed the image with Grape Fizz Perfect Pearls. The EEEK letters were sprayed with Wicked Elixir Distress Spray Stain. And finally, I colored some Mummy Cloth with diluted Villainous Potion ink.

My final pocket uses one of the adorable Mischeivious Cats die-cut from Copper Glitter paper. The cat was placed on a background that I created using Walnut Stain, Aged Mahogany, Wilted Violet, and Rusty Hinge Distress inks. I used an Ideaology word band with some Statue Foundry Wax and tied it around the panel with string. I clear embossed the Tim Holtz Bubble stamp onto the pocket.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my set of pocket cards. These new dies were fun to play with and explore some of their possibilities. Enjoy!
