Crafty with Caly: Sunflower Fields Detailed 3D Embossing Folder and Die Cutting Card

Hello, friends! Thanks for joining me today as I share a project made using the Sunflower Field Embossing Folder! It’s been a while since I used the Karin Brushmarker Pros so I decided to use them today to watercolor the beautiful Sunflower Field embossed image.
There is a coordinating die to the Sunflower Field Embossing Folder and it cuts a single sunflower. I die-cut that first, then embossed it to prepare for watercoloring. I embossed both the single sunflower and the sunflower background using Strathmore Bristol Smooth cardstock. Next, I scribbled some Karin Brushmarker Pro markers onto my glass work surface to use it as a palette and began adding color.

I worked with the petals first, adding yellow and orange using Ochre and Amber, then I worked on the sunflower centers using Sepia and Henna. I picked up the pigment with a damp brush and applied it to the paper, rather than applying it directly. I think that the embossing of the cardstock, compresses the cardstock and makes it less easy to work with so using a damp brush and picking up the pigment works better to blend and spread the pigment.
Once I’ve gone over all the Sunflowers one time, I got over the centers a second time to intensify the details to help them pop more. Then to give them interest, I splattered the panel with white paint.
I applied the single sunflower with foam adhesive for dimension, then I prepared a sentiment using the Hello Sunshine die. I die-cut the words with Black Glossy Cardstock and the outline die with vellum and adhered it to the card panel using thin strips of foam adhesive. Then to finish my card, I adhered some confetti from the Sunflower Fields Mix.
I hope you like this project! If you have Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, you can certainly use the same technique to color your embossed images this way. They work very similarly and are easy to use! Thanks for stopping by today!~Caly
