Yippee for Yana: Ink Blended Speech Bubbles

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!
In today’s video, I’m sharing a one-layer ink blended talk bubbles design. My card is an encouragement one, but this design works for loads of different occasions and messages!
The star of the show today is the Talk Bubbles stencil from Simon. I love mine! I used it to sketch out a speech bubbles background on scrap paper. I simply penciled out the speech bubble outlines onto my paper to give me a guide for my card.
I attached the guide onto a cardstock panel, I used Cream instead of white, and ink blended the bubbles one by one.
I used Simon’s Pawsitively Saturated inks for this background and my colors are Citrine, Surf, Peachy, Bubblegum, Celery, Marine, and Melon.
If you do get unwanted ink on your background you can try to remove it by using a sanding eraser – I got some ink transfer from the tape, but the mono Sanding eraser saved the day as it helped to get most of the ink off the background.
Using this stencil you can also overlap the speech bubbles and create a beautiful continuous background or ink blend just one large bubble for your sentiment.
Speaking of sentiments, I went with an older stamp set from Simon, the Tiny Words Encouragement set. The messages here, as the name suggests, are tiny, but they are very powerful. I didn’t want to overwhelm my card with big messages, I wanted to keep the sentiment small, but include several on the card, one for each speech bubble. Even the longest messages in this set fit well inside the speech bubbles in this stencil.
I used my mini MISTI stamping tool to stamp all of the sentiments at once and stamped them in VersaFine Onyx Black ink.
I adhered this panel onto an A2 top folding card base – this is a one layer design, I seem to be enjoying one layer designs lately, and to add a bit of wow I embellished my card with some white gems from Spellbinders.

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Ink Blending Over Hot Foil
Hey there friends, its Nina-Marie here with you, sharing a hot foiled project I made with our Simon exclusive hot foil plates!
This slimline card features the Peony and Sketched Leaf hot foil plates and dies. To get the best foiled results, I used White Glossy Cardstock from Simon, which provides a super-crisp finish. I ink blended over the foil using Pawsitively Saturated Inks (foil resists most ink you put over top of it).
To finish the card, I added some pretty sequins and a greeting from our Birthday Sentiments set. Be sure to watch the video to see how I made this card!

Basic Box Card Dies and Add Ons
Did you know that we have come out with an amazing die that creates a box card? When folded flat, it fits inside a standard A2 envelope.
More recently we have come out with several add-ons. We now have Clouds, Hearts, Stars, Grass, and a couple message dies to fit inside. You can mix and match them together to create fun-themed 3D cards.
Tip: Don’t forget to use some of your smaller dies, sentiment strips, and stencils to personalize your projects!
Therm•O•Web Adhesive Foil Transfers
Have you wanted to try foiling but don’t have a heating element? Therm•O•Web has come out with very unique Adhesive Transfer sheets that only require a die-cut machine. The designs are beautiful.
You cut them out from the sheet, remove the back, and run it through your die-cutting machine to transfer the adhesive design to your paper. Then you place the foil on top and run it through your machine again. When you remove the foil sheet, you have a beautiful transferred design.
Tip: I’ve tried them with acetate and even vellum with amazing results.
Arch Dies, Stamps, and Stencils
I LOVE things that go together! Did you know that we have an arches series of Dies, Stencils, and Stamps? Our Dies are nested so you have a variety of sizes and the largest one is PERFECT for making an arched shape card.
The Stencils are also nested and are sized to fit inside the dies. They include the center masks for additional techniques!
We have a clear stamp set and a cling that also work together with the stencils and dies! How cool is that?
Translucent Envelopes
Now that you have made your beautiful cards, it would certainly be a shame to cover them up with an ordinary envelope. What better way to give them away (with a sneak peek) by putting them in a translucent envelope?
These envelopes can be foiled, stamped and embossed, or left blank to show your artwork. Add in a sprinkle of sequins for extra color and fun!
Tip: To address these cards, use a permanent pen or marker. Labels are also a good alternative.
