Creating a Simple Shaker Card with a Spotlight Scene!
Hi readers! Happy Thursday! Please join me in welcoming the fabulously talented Nina-Marie Trapani back to our blog as a guest! Today, we’re spotlighting this adorable Newton’s Nook stamp set called, Hoppy Days! Be sure to check out her video for the full tutorial.
Enjoy!
Happy Thursday everyone, it’s Nina-Marie here today sharing a fun way to create a simple shaker card scene using a technique I like to call “spotlight scene”. I am also featuring some of the newest Newton’s Nook Designs stamp sets called Hoppy Days, which has a lot of cute critters in it known for their “hopping” abilities! So let’s get into today’s card…
When most people think of a scene on a card, they think of an entire card front covered with the setting in mind. With spotlight scenes, this focuses the scene in one specific area of a card; and in some ways draws the attention of the recipient much more effectively than with a full-card scene. Spotlight scenes are also great for card makers that like a more “clean and simple” look.
And not only have I made a scene in today’s card, but I’ve also incorporated a shaker into the design as well which adds a fun, interactive element to the card. If you aren’t a shaker card type of person, you could easily skip adding in the shaker bits and still create the scene we are making here.
The images from the Newton’s Nook Hoppy Days set is great for practicing your coloring skills too; I’ve chosen to work with Copics today, but feel free to substitute the Copics for whatever medium you like working with. The frog image is super cute and to create my scene, I paired him up with the lily pads (also included in the Hoppy Days stamp set), a Wave Border die from Lawn Fawn and a Grassy Hill die from My Favorite Things.
To see how I’ve created this card, be sure to check out the video below!
Thanks so much for stopping by and for spending some time with me today… happy creating!
