Hi readers! Happy Wednesday! Welcome to Work It Wednesday for June 2016!

In case you’re wondering what ‘Work It Wednesday’ is, let me explain:

On the last Wednesday of every month (or towards the end of the month ;)), we want to see what you’re creating! The Simon Says Stamp community is so very talented, and we want to see more of your cards and projects every month.

We thought this would be a great way for all of you to ‘stretch your creative muscles’ and share what you’ve been working on. So we’ll give you a little challenge each month, and you’ll have until the following month to share what you’ve made. Please limit entries to 3 per month.

Each month we’ll pick a few random participants to win a Simon Says Stamp grab bag!

The projects and cards that were shared for May were so great! We loved seeing what you made for the last challenge, and we look forward to seeing what you make for this challenge.

Do you want to see all of the cards and projects that were shared for May 2016 Work it Wednesday? Check them out!

The following three participants were randomly chosen to win a goody bag from Simon Says Stamp:

SharonS!
KomMa!
Carol!

Please email [email protected] with your mailing address and she’ll get your prize sent out to you.

Now on to this month’s challenge! Our challenge will be to use some wafer thin dies OR stencils in your project!

Once you’re done creating, share your project below!

What are you waiting for? WORK IT! ;)

Sun Ray Ink Blending with Laura Bassen

Hi readers! Happy Tuesday! Please give our special guest Laura Bassen a big Simon welcome back to our store blog today! The Queen of ink blending has done it again! I think I’m especially partial to this card as it contains some of my very favorite colors! Laura worked her way from Spring Rain to Lucky to Scuba to High Dive to Blue Jay to the emphasis HOT MAMA! (<- hopefully you sang along with me there). The focal point is the gorgeous Mosaic Heart die from our newest collection, Among the Stars! Be sure to watch the video and enjoy!

Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Shimmering Watercolors + Vellum Shaker

Shimmering Watercolors + Vellum Shaker_2

Hi everyone, welcome back to another Studio Monday feature! Today I will be sharing some beautiful watercolor cards using Neat & Tangled stamps and dies, as well as the Starry Colors Gansai Tambi paints from Kuretake!

Neat & Tangled has some beautiful geometric/gem inspired stamp and dies sets, including their Faceted stamp set and Heart of Gold die that I will be using in today’s post. One of the things I love most about these stamps and dies are the many ways you can use them!

Today I’ve heat embossed the Faceted background onto watercolor paper and colored it in with the Starry Colors watercolor set; this background would also look fabulous by coloring each faceted area in different colors, or even as a rainbow! For those of you unfamiliar with the Starry Colors watercolors, they are a pearl-tinted palette that has a collection of six different gold, water-based pigments.  They can be used on their own like I have done here in this video, or applied over top (or mixed into) other watercolors to create pearlized effects.

These are SUPER fun paints that I definitely encourage you to try out! While I do not have the original Gansai Tambi watercolor pan set, I am told the Starry Colors pans are the exact same size as the originals and fit perfectly in the Gansai Tambi palette.

In the video, I’ll be sharing how I created this shaker card, as well as talk a bit about how I used the leftover die cut pieces to create a second card! I love being able to use my leftovers to create another card… it saves them from either a trash bin or a use-that-later-box (where they never see the light of day again)!
