Tim Holtz Map die “Across the Miles” Card with Shari Carroll
Happy Friday everyone!
I have a card inspiration for you today which carries a lot of meaning. My oldest sister turns 60 next week and we are 1834 miles away (I Googled it :o)… So, since it’s such a milestone age, I thought it would be nice to make something special for her.
I started out with watercolor paper and the Tim Holtz United States thinlits die. I painted the states with mini Distress inks and a little water.I used a wide variety of colors and even mixed a few.
I put a string between Illinois and Nevada and added the distance of miles with Tim Holtz Number Brads. I also added Happy Birthday and “60” using Chit Chat stickers, Celebration Words and Mini Numerals.
I figured a way to put all the tiny states back together on a card by using a sheet of acetate. I’ve put together a process video, you can view it below or on our YouTube channel.
Thanks for coming by today. I hope you have found some inspiration in my card and have a terrific weekend!

Well, thank you, Shari, for the great design idea. My sister turns 65 this year… she’s in Seattle and I’m in Ohio. Fabulous idea. Thanks so much for the very informative video. Perfect.

What a cool 60th birthday card for your sister, Shari! I’m sure she’ll love it but would like it even better if you could deliver it in person. : )
What a fabulous card! I love the idea behind this birthday across the miles!!
What a fantastic card! Thanks for sharing your tips and process! And happy birthday to your sister!
Love the sweet card you made your sister, I’m sure she’s going to love it. It’s beautiful and I love that US die from Tim!!
Wow, this is such an awesome design!
This card is too amazing not to compliment! I’m generally not a fan of the distressed look but this is so elegantly and cleverly done!
A great masculine card. I would just “die” of happiness if someone came out with a Canada die like this – or a world die!
This is so clever!
Thanks for a fabulous tutorial!!!!!!
