Prima Watercolor Confections + Rainbow Cards + Kindness Day!
Hello crafty friends! Its Nina-Marie here with you today, wishing you a VERY happy Random Acts of Kindness Day! I love the theme for this “fun holiday”. We could all use a bit more kindness spread among each other!

Today I wanted to share a video featuring how to make some bright and happy cards that are sure to brighten anyone’s day! I also am encouraging you to make a card for someone today in honor of Random Acts of Kindness day! Fill the card with something that let’s the recipient know you were thinking of them! Some ideas for including in or with your card:
- A simple, heartfelt note written inside
- Baked goods or other delicious treats
- A gift card (maybe to their favorite coffee shop, digital music/app store, restaurant, or even one of our Simon Gift Cards for a crafty friend!)
- A small gift
- A handmade bookmark, jewelry, or home decor piece
There are lots of things that you could give as an unexpected gesture to someone… you never know how much a small act of kindness might impact someone’s day! To borrow a phrase from the card below: you could rock their world! :)
So how about some details on all these happy rainbows I’ve got here??
I LOVE to watercolor – depending on my mood, I sometimes love watercolor more than Copics (which is amazing for me to say because I adore my Copics). Watercolor was the very first medium I used in cardmaking back when I first started in 2007; it wasn’t until later on that I got Copics. So watercolor does -and always will- hold a special place in my heart.

In today’s cards, I used Prima’s Watercolor Confections palettes. But be sure to remember that you can use any watercolor medium you have or prefer most. If you watch the video below, you will see my palette looks different than the actual sets of Prima Watercolor Confections. This is because I combined all of my half pans from each collection I have to save space and have all the colors in rainbow order. Yes, I’m crazy that way! :) I have three of Prima’s Confections palettes: the Classics, Tropicals and Decadent Pies. There are also the Shimmering Lights and Pastel Dreams palettes which I do not have yet.
I also stepped up the watecoloring a bit by creating a shimmer water mix BEFORE doing any painting. In the bowl of water that I had on my desk, I mixed Perfect Pearls to make a shimmery water. By simply using the glittery water to pick up and paint with, I was able to make my backgrounds shimmery. All without having to spray the paper with a shimmer mist and risk that the water based medium might blend my watercolors together!
Now, I will admit that I had WAY too much fun creating these cards… so much fun in fact that I made 10 cards in a single afternoon! I played with quite a few Simon stamps and dies, creating fun layouts and combinations with my backgrounds! The Simon products I used in these cards include: Kristina’s Love stamps, You Matter (both stamps and die), Heart of Flowers die, Holiday Shapes die, Heart Smile die, Painted Kindness die and the Stitched Rectangle dies.
I hope you will be checking out the video to see how these cards came together. I am so glad you stopped by to spend some time with me! Be sure to remember to spread some random acts of kindness today!

Sunny Studio Stamps: New Spring Collection!
Hi friends! Happy Wednesday!! Congrats on making it over the ‘week hump’! Today, I’m so pleased to welcome back the delightful and talented Mendi Yoshikawa as a guest on our blog! She’s made four delightful samples with new Sunny Studio Stamps stamps and dies! Be sure to read on and enjoy!

Hello there! It’s Mendi here today from Sunny Studio Stamps sharing a handful of cards using our newest collection for Spring! Up first is a little birthday card combining three sets using all the critters from Easter Wishes, Froggy Friends and Turtley Awesome.
I used my Silhouette to cut four 1-1/8″ circles evenly spaced along the bottom of my 5-1/2″ wide cardstock panel. I then lightly blocked off where the circles would fall on my card base below and blended four fun shades of distress inks, blending them more along the bottom edge where they would be seen and with more obvious divisions where they would be peek through the circular windows. I tucked in the critters having them slightly peek out beyond their windows and topped them all with party hats from Froggy Friends and Turtley Awesome.
Supplies Used:
For my next card I thought it would be fun to mix two of our new layering stamp sets to create a Spring bouquet.
I started by stamping the flower stems on my card base. I then cut a 3/4″ x 5.5″ strip from black polka-dot paper and adhered it to the left hand side of my card to hide the random length of stems. I followed by layering stamped leaved and tucking them around a strip of paper that was inked up with mustard seed distress ink and cut with our Fishtail Banner dies. I completed my card with a “thanks” sentiment that comes as a bonus cut with our Vintage Jar dies.
Supplies Used:
Up next is a bright and happy spring card using our new Friends & Family set. The stamps come with individual stems or four stems connected for perfectly spaced flower borders made of posies, daisies, tulips or daffodils (or all four). As a little bonus, each bold flower comes with a second layer for two-tone stamping and there are unique leaves to match each flower type.
The set also comes with over 16 different sentiment combinations using the words “friends” and “family”. I love that it works well for so many different occasions–I find myself reaching for it over and over again when I need a quick card.
Supplies Used:
For my last card today I couldn’t resist pairing the little vacuum from our “That Sucks” stamp set with Lawn Fawn’s adorable Loads of Fun set. They make a pretty good match, don’t ya think? ;)
I colored in all my images with a red, white and blue color scheme using my Copic markers and then sponged on some dye ink to match for my background. After I had my images in place, I stamped one of the coordinating sentiments from “That Sucks” with Versafine ink and my mini MISTI.
Supplies Used:
I hope I’ve inspired you in your Spring card making. Thank you so much for allowing me to share some of our newest stamps and dies with you today. Please join us over at the Sunny Studio blog to see more fun ideas our team has been cooking up with these sets!
Thanks for reading today, and thanks to Mendi for being our special guest!
