Layton’s Legacy Card Drive & Fundraiser Blog Hop with Shari Carroll

Welcome everyone! We have a special blog hop today to bring attention to Layton’s Legacy; a card drive and fundraiser for NICI parents. These parents endure so much and through Layton’s Legacy, they will receive handmade cards from people like you and me along with gift cards for popular hot drinks.
I pulled my inspiration from the Layton’s Legacy logo above and the the mood board below. I used the Simon Says Stamp “From The Rooftops” Stamps and coordinating dies for my mountains to create a scene.
I white embossed them on Fog cardstock and used Kuretake watercolor paints to shade them a bit. I put together several die such as Painted Hello, Picture Book Sky for my clouds, and Moon and Stars to add some subtle stars to the background.
I have filmed a video of the process which you can watch below or on our YOUTube channel HERE.
There is an amazing line-up of designers participating today, you can check them out by clinking the links below.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP!
As part of the fundraising efforts, for every $5 donated, you will be entered into the drawing to win one of the generous prizes below. All winners will be drawn from the “YouCaring Site” HERE. Winners will be announced May 19th on Lea’s blog.

SHARE! – I know that not everyone is able to donate, but sharing about the fundraiser gives it more visibility! Please feel free to share the YouCaring Link or this post on all your social media outlets!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ve been inspired in your heart and creative mind.

Yippee for Yana: Rad Grad
Hi friends!! Happy Monday! Please welcome back the always creative and fun Yana Smakula to our blog with her latest edition in the Yippee for Yana series! In this inspiration, Yana makes a super playful gender neutral graduation card! Don’t forget to watch the video, and enjoy!
Hello friends, this is Yana and welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video! Today I have a graduation card to share using some new goodies from Simon Says Stamp!
I started to work on my card by stamping “You’re Seriously One Rad Grad” sentiment from the Rad Grad stamp set by Cathy Zielske onto Neenah 80 LB Solar White white cardstock using my mini MISTI in a few colors of ink to create a multi-color sentiment. To allow myself to do the multi-color stamping I used masking technique and masked parts of the message to reveal one line of text at a time to ink it up and stamp in just one color of ink.
I used Simon’s Dye inks today and the colors are Smoke, Green Apple, Sunshine, and Evergreen. I feel this is a wonderful gender-neutral color combination. I like to make funny cards, so to add a touch of humor to this card I stamped Octopus from the Under The Sea Animals stamp set. I used Intense Black ink for stamping and colored this image using several Copic markers – YG93, YG95, and YG99. I also added white pen detail once my Copic coloring was completely dry. I stamped a graduation cap using same yellow ink color as before for my octopus to wear and cut all of these images out with the help of coordinating dies.
I love that there are dies for the sentiments in the Rad Grad stamp set. I don’t have a lot of sentiment sets where I have a coordinating die to cut my stamped message out so I am very excited about these new sets from Cathy.
To create a background panel for my card I dry embossed a 4 x 5 ¼” panel of Fog cardstock with the help of Abstract Triangle stencil in my Spellbinders Platinum die cutting machine. I adhered my panel onto an A2 side folding Smoke card base, foam mounted die cut elements on top and embellished this card using several Rainbow Confetti pieces from Simon.
Have fun stamping!

NEW Waffle Flower: Sun Shaker Card!
Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Please join me in welcoming the amazing Channin Pelletier back as a guest on our blog today! We’re celebrating the brand new Waffle Flower release for May! Please be sure to watch the video for more information and enjoy!
Hello everyone! It’s Channin here and I am so excited to be back at Simon Says! In today’s video today I’m creating a fun shaker card with the new Sun Shine Panel Die and Sunshine Stamp Set from Waffle Flower Craft’s May Release!
WATCH THE VIDEO:
To start, I ink blended an A2 panel (4.25” x 5.5”) made from 120lb white cardstock with Waffle Flower Craft’s inks, You Said What and Oh Happy Day. I then die cut the panel with the Sun Shine Panel Die. Next, I created a cloud stencil with some scrap cardstock and the scalloped die from the Scenery Die Set. I then ink blended WFC’s Daydreaming onto an A2 top-folding card base (4.25” x 11”, scored & folded at 5.5”) using the DIY stencil to create the look of a cloudy sky. Next, I die cut an A2 frame out of craft foam using the Rainbow Panel Die.
I then adhered the frame to the card base and an A2 sheet of acetate to the backside of the sunshine panel die cut. Next, I stamped a sentiment from the Sunshine Stamp Set on a scrap of white in WFC’s New Fish in Pond and Peace of Mind and then fussy cut it out. With my sentiment complete, I completed my shaker card by pouring a layer of clear sequins into the well and then sealed it up with the top panel. To finish my card up, I adhered the sentiment to the center with foam tape.
I hope you enjoyed today’s video and card, thanks so much for stopping by!
