Throwback Thursday – Fabulous Projects You Might Have Missed!

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday — a trip back in time! For each throwback, we’ll be spotlighting fantastic cards and projects using products from previous releases. The new stuff is always SO fun, but think about all of those great products you’ve collected and set aside. They are STILL AWESOME! And we want to inspire you with fantastic inspiration from our creative archives.
We recently release a fantastic new collection of goodies called You Are Loved, and we are getting excited for everything that 2019 holds! You might remember some pretty spectacular products from last year’s Friends collection. Let’s take a look at some inspiring cards created with goodies from last year’s Friends release!
First up is this adorable project from Jill Dewey Hawkins:

Jill’s sweet card featuring the Best Friends stamp set and dies is simply the cutest! Sometimes all a great design needs is some quick coloring and a little stitching for textural interest. You can see Jill’s original post HERE.

Next, let’s throw it back to this eye-catching design from Gayatri Murali:

Gayatri created an absolute showstopper with one die and one stamp set! The gorgeous Modern Flowers Card Wrap die doesn’t need to be used as a card wrap only! Gayatri had a blast with ink smooshing in a full spectrum of color and then added a simple heat embossed sentiment. You can find Gayatri’s original blog post HERE.

And let’s not forget this oh-so-sweet project from Shari Carroll:

Shari created this beautiful card as part of the Layton’s Legacy Card Drive and Fundraiser for NICU Parents, and the design is inspired by the logo for the event. The gorgeous mountain range was created with the From the Rooftops stamp set and coordinating dies from our Friends release. You can find Shari’s original post on our blog HERE, and you can see how she created this card by watching her process video on YouTube HERE.

Our last throwback project comes from Erin Lee Schreiner:

Gold heat embossing and Distress Inks paired with our Center Cut Heart background stamp give Erin Lee’s design a serious WOW factor! This background stamp was one of the most popular products in our Friends release! Erin paired the pretty stamp with cute and cheeky sentiments from CZ Design. Mixed Medium Canvas Shadow Box with Shari Carroll
Merry Christmas!!! Thank you so much for taking your time away from family and friends to join me on the blog.
I have a project that uses some leftover wrapping paper to create a shadow box for winter decoration. I started out with an 8×8 Winsor and Newton canvas which has a deep edge. When you turn it over you have plenty of room to add some colored trees, a greeting, and snowflakes in the background.

The wrapping paper I used is a nice silver with white snowflakes so it’s not too busy and can easily be overlapped without losing the pattern. I applied Matte Gel Medium to the wood of the frame and added torn pieces of papers until I had it covered. I also painted the inside canvas area with white gesso before adding some die cut snowflakes.
The trees were colored with Tim Holtz Distress sprays in Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers, and Peeled Paint. I used the Tim Holtz technique of spraying them then dipping each into a cup with water to create an ombre effect. It’s such a brilliant technique!!
