You Can Stand Under My Umbrella

Hi readers! Happy Sunday to you!  Do you ever think that sometimes the sentiment can really MAKE a card? An image is worth a million words, sure, but sometimes a sentiment articulates just what you wanted to convey.  One of the many things I love so much about Art Impressions, is their attention to sentiments. They are unique, appropriate, & often funny.

I called on designer Cheryl Valadez to return as a guest on our blog to share an example. I hope you enjoy!

Sometimes the sentiment makes the card and that’s why I love that Art Impressions adds 2-3 really great word stamps to each of their sets.  This particular sentiment is one of my absolute favorites and can almost stand alone.  I started to do that here, however, I couldn’t resist those sweet Girlfriends and ended up adding the image, as well.   I did hold back a bit on the coloring and left a lot of the image white in order to make the sentiment the star of the card.  I added just enough color to give the card a finished appearance.

Pretty much everything that Art Impressions offers is fabulous including their sentiments, however, the Girfriends stamps have a special place in my heart.  They remind so much of my wonderfully wacky group of gal pals. Each set includes just the right words, from silly to serious, to convey exactly what I want to say and you just can’t beat that.

  1. Sigh! Once again, I sped over to the store, credit card at the ready, totally inspired by a fabulous card – and the stamp set is out of stock! Ughhhh! Ah well, my DH thanks you!

  2. Absolutely adorable and so right on with the girlfriends – we all have a few that are dear to us! Thanks for sharing.

  3. Cheryl’s card is perfect! I’ve been snooping around and peeking at the Art Impression stamps and sentiments and I coud not agree more with Cheryl. I have several on my wish list and if money grew on trees, I’d have many of them. They remind me of my mom and her friends from exercise, home extension and red hat. And I really need some of them, so I can make cards for her to give out to her buddies. I give her sets of cards for different occasions that she can use throughout the year. I was instantly drawn in by the light coloring and really, it’s beautiful. I’m a fill ALL of the blank space in and that’s why I’m subscribed to so many companies and crafters, so I can learn to not fill in all of the spaces. ;) I just placed my first SSS order with some Christmas funds and eventually, I will get around to some AI goodies too.

  4. I love this card it’s just gorgeous!! I actually just received my first AI stamp in the mail yesterday and have lots more of them on my wish list!! They definitely do have some very funny ones and also some very adorable ones too!! Thanks for sharing the tip on colouring/or not colouring!!

  5. I have been looking at the AI stamps lately, and this post will probably make me look even closer! Such a nice card with a fun side.

Getting double emails so home I haven’t messed things up trying to whittle it to just 1!

  9. This is one of my very favourite stamps. I have a few of them and absolutely adore colouring them. Beautiful card! I really like the minimal use of colours.
