Hi friends! Happy Sunday! Please join me in welcoming back special guest Yana Smakula for a gorgeous duo of cards in the latest edition of our Yippee for Yana blog series! Be sure to watch the video for more information and enjoy!

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for SimonSayStamp.com! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video

Today I am creating with Simon’s Window Box Blooms stamp set and I have 2 cards to share featuring a slightly different take on this stamp set. When I first saw this stamp set I had the idea to create a card and feature something outside the window. This stamp set is designed so that you are looking at the window from the outside. I wanted to use this product differently as if I was looking at the window from the inside and thus seeing the outside world.

Night Time Scene Window Card

First I wanted to make a nighttime sky with constellations. I pre-cut a panel of Simon’s 130lb Mega Thick cardstock and foiled Spellbinders’ Celestial Zodiac constellations in Polished Brass Foil

To add color to my night sky, I ink blended shades of blue with Distress Oxide inks in Tumbled Glass, Mermaid Lagoon, Chipped Sapphire, and Hero Arts Navy inks. I used a damp cloth to wipe the ink off the foiled sections and that restored the shine on the foil. I also sprayed the background with Hero Arts Frost Shimmer spray to add a bit of shine and sparkle.

The stamp and the coordinating die in the Window Box Blooms stamp set is quite small. It isn’t really large enough to show a lot of this background. But the shape of the window is easy to stretch so you can create a much larger window for your card.

I die-cut 4 pieces out of blue cardstock and 2 pieces (connectors), out of white. I trimmed the white pieces and used those to adhere the 2 blue pieces together to make one taller window. I made two larger windows using this trick and next, I connected them from the back using foam adhesive squares, I just added some in the middle where the two windows touched. I added more foam adhesive around the perimeter to be able to pop this die-cut up onto my card.

I used scissors and trimmed the excess paper off leaving a beautiful window with a night sky background outside. So cool!

I adhered the window onto a dark blue cardstock panel and added a simple “thinking of you” sentiment stamped in black, along with some sequins scattered around the background.

Day Time Scene Window Card

My next card features a daytime view from the window. I created an ink blended background using my angled ink blending technique I have it in another video recently, do check it out . Next, I stamped a tree silhouette in black ink over the background.

I created another double window using the same trick and adhered it over the ink blending. I trimmed it all out and adhered onto a cream panel, cut to 4 x 5 1/4” which was foam mounted onto an A2 white card base. I stamped a birthday sentiment and foam mounted that panel onto the card.

Have fun stamping!
