WPlus 9 Watercolor and Foil!

Hi everyone! Happy Sunday! I had this idea of combining Heidi Swapp Foiling with a bit of watercoloring to create a card and chose the WPlus9 Autumn Leaves stamp set to have the perfect images to try this technique!

I started out white embossing the images onto Tim Holtz watercolor card stock (my favorite because it’s such a true white)!

Once my images were embossed, I ran the panel through the Heidi Swapp Minc machine using silver foil. Oh La La! It’s so shiny!! From there I used my Pine Needles, Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough Distress inks to watercolor.

I’m thrilled at how this technique turned out. I’ve shot a video on how to do each step of the process. You can view it below or on our YouTube channel.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great start to your week tomorrow!

  1. Shari, your card is beautiful. I didn’t know that you could foil over embossing. Could you (or anyone) comment on using silver foil vs just silver embossing. The foil cards I’ve seen online are so pretty but do they justify the cost. Just wondering? Thanks!!

  2. Oh, this is so GORGEOUS. Those leaves are stunning watercolored with the silver foiling. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. Beautiful card. I love that the leaves were done in green hues rather that autumnal oranges and rust…the crunchy leaves from under our shoes as we walk. I do like those colors too, but it was nice to see some others for a more elegant card.

  4. Very interesting. I’d like to find out more about the foiling tool. Thanks for using the greens together. I will try combining these colors.

  5. I’m going to do my first foiling attempt this weekend.
I want to do a turkey. Hope it works out.
Lovely leaves. the blues are so pretty.
    thanks for sharing.

  6. Gorgeous and inspiring as always! I really like your color combinations. They are so unexpected, but so eye catching!
