Vacation: Mixed Media with Shari Carroll and Buttons Galore

Mixed Medium with Shari Carroll

Welcome everyone!!! We are well into winter with snow and frigid temperatures here in the Mid West and thought it was a good time for a breath of warm vacation air!! I’ve created a quick and easy mixed media project using some beautiful combinations of Sparkletz from Buttons Galore.

I started off by creating a tray by gluing a piece of Media Board to the back of a Vignette Frame. Once I had the tray painted and dried, I added the Sparkletz one color at a time until  it was filled.

I covered an 8×8″ frame with my favorite Silver Silk Tonic paper, added a few sprays of paint and a greeting… and I had my window of my vacation sea glas!!!

  1. My heart goes out to everyone suffering in the frigid weather. It’s hard for us Texans to imagine the low temperatures we’re seeing on the news. I hope you’re staying warm. That is such a lovely project and the sentiment is perfect for year-round.

  2. Super card…am looking at it right as there’s a snow squall raging outside and can’t see a single thing outside the window! Much rather see your window with the beautiful buttons and clever water scene!

  3. Once again Shari has restored my faith in mixed media. This is so pretty and I think I could even do this! Way cool!

  4. I absolutely love this idea. You are a genius and so talented. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to see what else you create.

  5. This is a gorgeous project. I have not seen anything like it. I would love to create something similar for my home!

  6. This is a gorgeous project. I have not seen anything like it. I would love to create something similar for my home!

  7. What a fabulous project! Love the colors of the sea glass and the sentiment is perfect. I would love one of these hanging on my wall.

  8. Beautiful creation! Love all the colors. It definitely has a vacation vibe!! Have fun on your cruise.

  9. Beautiful project – I love those baubles – the mixtures are so pretty. I love how you mimicked them on the frame/mat piece too with the light sprinkles of colour.

  10. Hi,

I love this project and want to make it. However, I am unable to find the Silver Silk Tonic Paper. Do you think that Mercury Glass-Gold Foil Paper would be okay to use instead?

    Thank you,
    Deanna
