Tim Holtz Botanic Collage Card Set featuring Simon Says Stamp Coordinating Dies!

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday! I’m delighted to welcome back special guest Cheiron Brandon with another special spot showcasing a gorgeous card set featuring Tim Holtz Stamps and Simon Says Stamp coordinating dies. Read on to learn more and enjoy!

Hi there crafty friends, it’s Cheiron Brandon here sharing my monthly tutorial with you using Tim Holtz products. This month, I have created a card set using the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Botanic Collage Stamps and Simon Says Stamp coordinating dies. I love that Simon now has dies for some of my favorite Tim Holtz stamp sets…there are so many more creative possibilities.

For today’s cards I used the 2 images from the stamp set that have butterflies in them – this allowed me to make my background stamping one color and the butterfly image another color by stamping one in black and one in color and embossing it with Distress Embossing Glaze.

To begin I cut some Distress Watercolor Cardstock to 3 ¾ x 5 and stamped the two butterfly images in black. Then I stamped them again with Distress Oxide and embossed them with Distress Embossing Glaze. Once with Wilted Violet and once with Spiced Marmalade. Once I heat embossed them, I used the coordinating dies to cut out the butterflies.

On the pieces that I stamped in black, I wanted to add some color. On one panel, I added Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Inks by smooshing them onto my Glass Mat, spraying the ink with water and smooshing my paper into the ink. On the second panel, I did the same thing with Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber Distress Inks. Once my panels were dry, I wanted to add a little something to them. Inside of a splat box, I sprayed the same colors of Distress Spritz as the inks that I had used onto the panels to give them lots of shine.  I spritzed on Peacock Feathers and Twisted Citron Distress Spritz on the first and Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade on the second and dried the panels.

To finish my card, I added the butterflies I cut out earlier by folding the butterflies just a little to make them stand up and adding foam dots to the back of them and adhering them to my card panels. I inked the edges of the card panels in Black Soot Distress Ink. I also added sentiments from the Abstract Florals stamp set which I embossed in white. Finally, I added the panels to the card bases. I love the pops of color you get from those Distress Glazed Butterflies!
