Throwback Thursday – Patriotic Edition

Throwback Thursday Simon Says Stamp

Welcome to another edition of Throwback Thursday—a trip back in time! For each throwback, we’ll be spotlighting fantastic cards and projects using products from previous releases. The new stuff is always SO fun, but think about all of those great products you’ve collected and set aside. They are STILL AWESOME! And we want to inspire you with fantastic inspiration from our creative archives.

A new exclusive Simon brand release is headed your way in exactly one week, but today we’d like to share some patriotic designs as we head into Memorial Day weekend here in the United States. You’ll find four inspiring and unique projects created with previously released products from Simon Says Stamp!

First off is this patriotic stenciled design by Laura Bassen:

Laura Bassen Simon Says Stamp May 2021 Throwback Thursday American Flag stencil and Thankful 2 dies

Laura Bassen created this crisp American flag slimline design (a little ahead of the slimline trend!) back in May of 2019. She used our American Flag stencil and the CZ Design Thankful 2 die in patriotic red, white, and blue. You can see the details of this design by Laura on our blog HERE and a video on our YouTube channel HERE.

Next, let’s throw it back to this heartfelt military thanks by Shari Carroll:

Shari Carroll Simon Says Stamp May 2021 Throwback Thursday Patriotic Service stamps and coordinating dies

The Patriotic Service stamp set debuted in 2019 in our Celebrate You release! Shari quipped in her blog post, “I’ve always wanted a stamp set that can be used for all branches of military… so I made a set!” She shared this project HERE on her blog along with two more fantastic cards you should check out!

And take a look at this cheeky and fun red, white, and blue card created by Cathy Zielske:

Cathy Zielske Simon Says Stamp May 2021 Throwback Thursday US of Craft-ay stamp set

Our Crafty Hugs release last May included a really fun stamp set that Cathy created call US of Craft-ay. In true CZ-style, she kept it EZ with bold stripes and a few sparkly stars. You can see Cathy’s original post on her blog HERE, and you’ll find a YouTube video she shared creating another card with this set HERE.

And finally this beautiful card designed by Caly Person in honor of the Memorial Day tradition of wearing poppies:

Caly Person Simon Says Stamp May 2021 Throwback Thursday Poppies Background and Thinking of You sentiment strips

While our British counterparts wear poppies on Remembrance Day in November, in the United States poppies are traditionally worn for Memorial Day in May to honor and memorialize fallen soldiers. In conjunction with that, I can’t help but share this stunning design by Caly Person using our Poppies background. You can check out Caly’s blog post where she shared this project HERE.

  1. Love the poppy card.
Canadians as well as the British wear poppies when observing Remembrance Day, November 11.

  2. Love the patriotic cards and they make you remember who we should remember on Memorial Day. They are all lovely cards. Thank you.
