Hi readers! Happy Wednesday! We’d like you to join us in extending a BIG Simon welcome to another first time guest designer on our blog this week! Annette Witherspoon is local to our office headquarters, and it was a real pleasure to get to meet her in person at our Simon Says Stamp CREATE event this year! Read on for tips and tricks on how you can recreate this beauty!

Hi there! I am honored to be guest designing for Simon Says Stamp. This opportunity is a little extra special to me because Simon Says Stamp is a local business. I live just a couple miles down the road, which means I’m not only supporting a reputable company in the crafting industry, but I’m also supporting a local business!

Today, I’m making a holiday-themed thank you card. I figure most people already have started on their Holiday cards, but what if you receive a nice gift and you want to send out a special thank you to the person who gave it to you?  This card is perfect for such an occasion!

Here is a video I created showing how I made the card. (Forgive my raspy voice. I’m coming down with a cold and my voice sounds kind of kooky right now! LOL!)

Watch the video:

First, I took a circle die and drew around it onto Canson 140 lb. watercolor paper. You don’t have to use a die. Any circular object that fits just inside an A2 card front will work. This is to simply serve as a guide for positioning your stamps.

Next, I started stamping my images around the circle using Versafine Black Onyx ink. The stamps are from the Altenew Striped Florals set. Once I’m done stamping, I color the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. To fill in some of the white space, I used a metallic gold gel pen and simply drew some little dots. Once the ink has had time to dry, I erased my pencil line.

I finished off the card front with a die cut Thanks sentiment from Altenew, and adhered it to the middle of the card at a slight angle for a little more visual interest.

Finally, I attach the card front to the base of the card, which is an A2-sized tent fold created from Neenah Solar White 110 lb. card stock.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Have a great holiday season!!

  1. Congratulations, Annette, and welcome to SSS guest designing. How lucky to have them local to you. Great job on the thank you card. Going to try this technique for lining up images around any shape.

  2. Totally gorgeous design. Love the little gold dots for added detail! How awesome to live so close to SSS. I think that would be so dangerous for my wallet…hahaha!

  3. Annette, WOW, this is so gorgeous. After waiting like forever to be able to order those markers, mine arrived yesterday, and since I work night shifts, I have yet to unwrap them. Always love seeing someone new featured!

  4. Happy to see your guest design here at SSS Blog, Annette! Your video is awesome and the coloring is superb! Congratulations!

  5. Beautiful card Annette! Welcome to the Simon Says team! Looking forward to seeing more of your projects.

  6. Great work and video. Love the design and the Zig coloring. I also like that Simon sells these markers in both packages and individually.

  7. This is such a beautiful card, love the colours and your colouring of the flowers. Wonderful thank you card. I couldnt imagine living just down the road from Simon Says, I would be broke every week. My pay would come in and there would be something I would just have to have and then…. The temptation.
