Hello and welcome to day 3 of Summer School!

Today we’re sharing a card created by Nichol Magouirk using lots of products from the new Teacher’s Pet release! This card would be great for men and women teachers and features some awesome products and techniques!

The black embossing paste over the black cardstock is perfect for some great texture without being too obvious. And like yesterday’s card by Shari, Nichol chose to have the the Teacher die-cut be the punch of color on the card.

The layered tags and mix of stars on the background, pull this card together and make it that much more special! Those little details don’t seem like a lot, but they really make the card!

To see how Nichol created her card, you can watch the video below.

Summer School wouldn’t be complete without the chance to win some crafty school supplies, right!?

  1. I always love everything Nichol creates! This card is awesome! Love the black on black embossing and the great tag! The pop of red looks great and the stars are the perfect finishing touch! My kiddos are both middleschoolers this year, I can hardly believe it. Sorry…anyway, they don’t start until September 3rd (but they don’t finish until the end of June)!

  2. Love Nichol’s card! I don’t have kids, but kids in Huntsville, AL where I live started school yesterday. I used to live in another country when I was little and we went to school from March to December. Thanks for the chance.

  3. No kids in school, we went back to school after Labor Day. The started to change that when my son was in High School to end of August here in the late 90’s… made it hard to get in that last camping trip and hated that…now not so much…lol.. love the black on black embossing… thanks for the inspiration…

  4. Today was the first day for my 6th and 3rd graders. I love Nichol’s background and multiple tags-great card.

  5. Love that classic color combination. I must try the embossing paste…you make it look so easy.
    Thanks for another inspiring tutorial.

  6. I love your card. The black embossing paste is cool. This release is fabulous for school projects. We always went back to school after Labor Day.

  7. Awe, what a great teacher card! Great technique and inspiration! Summer vacation was always at least 3 months long when I was growing up, first of June through Labor Day!

  8. Love Nichol’s card!! I have a 3 year old that won’t start school until next year (let me tell you I’m one nervous mama), my heart is literally beating fast just thinking about it…lol! Growing up I always started school before Labor Day. Thanks for the chance to win some awesome stuff!

  9. Our kids start school Sept. 3. It always was a treat growing up to wait until after Labor Day to start school. Love the Teachers Pet set.

  10. Love it! The stars and the vellum are a wonderful combination. Thanks for the great idea. I love watching the kids go by on those first days of school. Such anticipation!

  11. We start after Labor Day. By law in MN public schools cannot start before that date. Can’t wait to get my hands on the black Wendy Vecchi embossing paste!

  12. love your card Nicole, and your products SSS. i used to start school the week before Labor Day, oh so many years ago!

  13. Great card! I like the black on black background. I love the idea of leaving the centers of the letters in – a fun way to do it! And the layered tag is really nice, too.

  14. I always started school the first day after Labor Day. The kids in my area are returning to school around the 19th of August and my one little granddaughter just started school on the 4th of August.

  15. I don’t have kids but when I was a kid we started our school year at the end of January in New Zealand. They now delay the school year beginning until February as it is a little bit cooler then.

  16. Hi, in Australia we have 4 school terms so kids go back to school mid July after the winter season 2 week break.

    Cheers

  17. I always went back after Labor Day being over 60 now but the school where I volunteer varies by the year sometimes the week before LD and other times the Tuesday after LD.

  18. Kids are grown, grandkids start in 2 weeks. We used to always start after Labor Day and think they still should!! Love this series!!!

  19. Awesome card and giveaway!! Our kids go back at 2 different times, one goes back August 26th and the other one is homeschooled so he starts at anytime in September. :) Thanks for the inspiration and the chance to win!!

  20. We always started school the day after Labor Day. Is that telling my age?! My grandchildren seem to always start in mid August. There are a few schools that began today in our area. Start dates just keep changing these days!

  21. I love the background it looks fantastic with black on black! I can’t wait to try this! Fabulous video and card as always Nichol. I start the last week in August and my students will begin on Sept 2nd. We are just finishing up summer school (6 more days) so I’m not even ready to think of the first days yet;)

  22. The schools in our area has already started back this week. Enjoying the card you are making. I can not decide which I love better after watching the video on the poppy flower card with the . So they both are tops! I know u have my mind whirling with all kinds of teachers we have in our community. TYFS

  23. Our children insisted on growing up and setting up homes of their own. Our daughter is in grad school does that count? LOL When I was in school, we never started until after Labor Day. We also didn’t get out until sometime in June. How late in June depends on how many snow days we had during the winter. The children in our area now start school tomorrow.

  24. When I was in school, we never started until after Labor Day. We also didn’t get out until sometime in June. How late in June depends on how many snow days we had during the winter. The children in our area now start school tomorrow.

  25. When I was in school we always went back to school after Labour day. I was always a treat when the first Monday in September was not the first of Sept. Longer to enjoy the last of the summer.

  26. Though my kids are all grown and have kids of their own, I babysit a lot for the 5 grandkids. The 3 in school, kindergarten, 3rd grade and 5th grade start on August 25th and if and when I’m needed to help with. their after school care I’m ready to crack the whip on getting that homework done before dinner – LOL! When I was young, we got out for the summer at the end of May and didn’t return until after Labor Day Monday (of course, we never had snow days in Florida)

  27. Great tutorial using the new products and very creative too! We used to, and today 50 years later the kids still go back the first Wednesday in September after the long weekend.

  28. I am a teacher and we start back next Monday and the students start back on Tuesday. Actually, I have been going to my class most of this week. I was also helping with orientation for students this week. I feel like school has already started. There is a school that is actuall starting tomorrow. My 2 daughters are now teaching at the same school this year. That will really confuse the students. Two of us are teaching the same grade and subject and our rooms are practically next door. It is going to be a special year this year.
