Summer School with Laura Bassen

Hello and welcome to another day of summer school! Can you believe that we’re already at day 4?!

Today’s teacher is the super talented and funny Laura Bassen! Laura is using the new Lunchbox Notes stamps and dies from the Teacher’s Pet release to create adorable little cards to include in her kids lunches this year! ;)

Lunch-Box-Notes

Rather than just creating flat panel cards, Laura made small, top-folding white cards and then adhered the diecut scalloped square over top. I love the bright colors of cardstock she used for for all of her cards and the great way she embellished each one with different elements from the stamp set. She even made a mini little shaker card! ;)

To make the fun designs stand out even more on her card, Laura used foam adhesive on the focal areas to pop them off the front of her card. Such a great way to add more dimension to these adorable little cards!

To see how Laura created her card, you can watch the video below.

Summer School wouldn’t be complete without the chance to win some crafty school supplies, right!?

  1. Love these!! Perfect for my little ones’ lunches.. I was a math nerd in school yet somehow got this creative bug too – go figure!

  2. My fav was English. I loved writing notes in various colors of ink- even had one of those clicker pens with different colors. Guess it’s no surprise I ended up loving stamping! And Laura’s video is just too cute! I need one of those pizza-makers at my house!

  3. My favorite subject in school was English! I had an amazing teacher in 7th and 8th grade…that made all the difference!

  4. I liked school but don’t think I had a favorite subject. Didn’t like Social Studies very much. Loved the kids portion of your video, Laura. They are all so cute and they do ROCK. Impressive pizza toss. The mini shaker was adorable. I will for sure be making a boat load of those. Thanks for the ever wonderful videos.

  5. These cards are adorable! I love making mini cards to give for no particular reason. The recipients are always so surprised and appreciative. My favorite subject was always English. To this day, reading and writing are passions.

  6. I love these cards too. They are so cute. My favorite class was high school English. I loved my teacher. She made diagramming sentences fun!

  7. To be honest I didn’t like school until I was an adult….then my favorite class was Microbiology – go figure! Thanks for the chance to win.

  8. Cute cards/notes for kids! I had two favorite classes in school: English in elementary school & hiking around our island in middle school (to visit various historical sites and discuss their cultural significance to us islanders.)

  9. My favorite subject was math. Your little notecards are so cute. Thanks for sharing and for the chance to win.

  10. I am going to make them for a Children’s Hospital and send them when we send the hats we have made for the kids. Also thinking of sending few to the nursing home. I can imagine the joy on their faces, especially if they receive a shaker card.

  11. My favorite subject was art and cooking class. :) I’m totally making one of those shaker cards for my 7year old daughters lunch box. I know she will love it! Thanks for tha inspiration!

  12. So so cute! :) Love the mini shaker! (and the kids reactions too!!)
Umm…my fave subject in school was probable literature class and of course art!

  13. I love love love these little cards. The stamp set and dies are super cute!
    My favorite subject was history,

  14. Favourite subject was ‘dress and design’ it was many years ago when we had subjects like woodwork and metalwork for the boys and domestic science and dress and design for the girls.

  15. In the secondary school I loved History and Chemistry at the same way. Then I chose the second one, and now I’m a chemistry teacher in secondary school and I use some scrapbooking tips to make funniest my lessons.

  16. I absolutely HATED first day of school. The butterflies in my stomach made me feel ill at the thought of who I was going to end up in classes with and so on. I was usually fine by the end of the day but it was just too much anxiety.

  17. My favorite subject was English. I had an awesome teacher who instilled a love of Shakespeare in me. My daughter was lucky enough to have the same teacher who did the same for her! BTW….. the mini shaker card was so stinkin’ cute! I HAVE to make one!

  18. Although I liked math, my definite favorite was reading a good book, and still is a favorite relaxation technique today.

  19. My favourite subject was ancient history and learning about other countries! Love the cute cards Laura made. It was always exciting to go shopping for new clothes and supplies for going back to school.

  20. You are so clever! I love these little notes and can see using them for lots of things. And having your children add their comments was so sweet. Lovely family. Can’t wait for your next post. As for school – that was SO LONG ago for me. But I went to school in the good old days – and am thankful for that. Favorite subject? Art class of course!

  21. English, especially writing, was definitely my favorite. These bitty cards are so precious. Love shown like this can change the world.
