Summer Card Making with NEW Exclusive Color Blends Cardstock: Yippee for Yana

Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)

Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!
Have you used Simon Says Stamp Color Blends Cardstock yet? Several different packs are available with various blends for all sorts of cards. This paper boasts a gleaming glossy finish, and a silky smooth surface suitable for die cutting, foiling, and heat embossing. The card I’m sharing today uses mostly the Color Blends Bold Brights pack along with a bit of regular back cardstock for a sentiment.

Ready to learn how to make this card? Let’s just right in!
I first created a background by cutting 2 panels diagonally – a teal panel to mimic water or pool and a pink-yellow ombre panel to mimic sand or ground next to the water. Next, I heat-embossed an umbrella from the Beachy Keen stamp set in detail white embossing powder on yellow blend paper and cut it out using the coordinating die. I love how this umbrella is only a half-one instead of the full one, it is very unique!

I also heat embossed flip flops on yellow and leftover pink blend papers and heat embossed a sentiment on regular black. All of these images were cut out using the coordinating dies available for the Beachy Keen stamp set.

To create my card I assembled a background, next, I added the umbrella on the edge of the “pool” and “sand” areas, added the sentiment, and the colorful flip-flops. I trimmed my card front down slightly and added it to an A2 card base leaving a small white border around it.

Lastly, I embellished my card using Aura sequins from Spellbinders and added a few dots onto the background using a white pen to create the illusion of sand.

The Color Blends paper looks fabulous no matter how you use it! I love the vibrant colors and the gorgeous shine it adds. I hope you’ll give it a try!
Have fun creating!
