Studio Monday with Nina-Marie: Distress Ink Watercolor and Smooshing featuring Mama Elephant

Hey there friends, it’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you! Today I am showcasing the Mama Elephant Hot Air Balloons stamp and die set. I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks to watercolor the images and ink smooshed the background.

I finished off the card with sequins and a Scripty Hugs die from Simon Says Stamp. This card is super easy to create and absolutely adorable! Be sure to watch the video below to see how I made it.

  1. Hi, Nina and SSS – Thanks for the reminder to use a “carrier” (acetate) sheet for smooshing. I don’t like the other method much either… I can never get the blob of the color I want at the place I want it using that other method.

Love the ME stamps. I don’t think I have those yet. I admire your skill; your result is a delight.

  2. Am in love with your adorable and gorgeous balloon watercolor card, Nina-Marie! Gosh, it was mesmerizing watching you! Love the extra movement the sequins added and am very inspired to try all of this! I forget to use watercolor and always grab my copics! So fun to watch you paint and swoosh with the inks!

  3. So very cute! Liked the tip about using the packaging for the ink smushing as like you I would like to see what I am creating. Thank you.
