Sizzlin’ Father’s Day Card!

Hi readers! Please join me in welcoming back the fantastic Chari Moss who is designed another fabulous Lawn Fawn card for us this month! Isn’t this scene too cute? I love that this little doggy is grilling his steak! Below Chari tells a bit more about her thought process and how to create this sweet card for yourself! There’s still time! Dad will love it :)

Father’s day is this weekend and the first time I saw the new Let’s BBQ set from Lawn Fawn I just knew it was going to be perfect for masculine cards, especially Father’s Day cards!  For this card I decided to try out my new Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens so I stamped out the images with Archival ink on watercolor paper and started to play.

I blended the pens with water for the grill, flames and steak.  To set my scene I used the new puffy clouds border dies to create not only clouds but a tree line as well.  I cut the clouds, trees and hillside from watercolor paper and used distress inks to add the colors.  I blended the distress inks with the ink blending tool so that it still had some of the texture and look of watercoloring to tie in with the images but yet it was still smooth since I was covering a larger area.  I mixed stamps from Happy Everything and Violet’s ABCs to create a custom mixed font sentiment.

After I had all my pieces arranged on my card I still felt like it needed something else. Best way to fix this…put a dog on it! Why not right? I colored the dog with the Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens as well but this time I blended by only using the markers, no water, and I think it turned out pretty well.
