Paper Doll Love!

Hello and happy Sunday!

I’m so excited to be on the blog today with a fun post featuring Prima mixed media dolls and my awesomely talented friend Nichol Magouirk!

It’s no secret how much I love paper doll stamps! I love dressing them up in fun clothes made out of patterned papers and adding fun little touches to bring them to life! Nichol shares this crazy obsession and totally rocks paper dolls, so we thought it would be fun if we chose a quote and each made a 6×8 page with whatever paper dolls we wanted. The result? Two fun and completely different pages!

“Every possibility begins with the courage to imagine…” – designed by Stephanie Klauck (me!)

For my page, I decided to use the new Aidan boy paper doll stamp (Yay for a boy stamp!!) paired with the new Keira girl stamp. Isn’t he cute?!? ;)

I created a scene for my dolls with papers cut from both dies and my Silhouette Cameo. I love creating fun scenes with life like elements like the picket fence cut from Simon Says Stamp woodgrain cardstock and the tree cut from a fun wood patterned paper. I dressed the dolls in patterned papers and stamped the sentiment directly on the bottom layer of grass.

When I cut out the girl doll, it was too hard to keep her stamped flower bouquet, so I created a new one from the Simon Says Stamp Hi Lovely stamp and die set.

Nichol has been creating 6×8 pages with paper dolls for awhile now, and one of her signature designs is to include Simon the dog in all of her layouts! Look at him in his cute goggles and snorkel gear!

I love that she used the Sea Sally mermaid doll stamp for her design! The water scene was created with various stamps and the new Waves stencil from Simon Says Stamp. The amazing mermaid tail is patterned paper that looks just like scales! I love how realistic her page looks with the fun shells, sand and seaweed added to her design.

The addition of the little fish and bubbles are the perfect touch to complete this amazing page! ;)

  1. Love these cards! I especially love the mermaid one with the Simon dog and his diving gear! Too cute!

  2. I’m amazed at all the details on this journal page! Just love how she added Simon and how she created his snorkel gear using the Silhouette. Also the glitter and the glossy accents are a nice touch. Beautiful project!

  3. Aww Simon is so cute in his goggles. Love the text on the dolls faces. Paper dolls are so fun to work with.

  4. Both of the doll projects turned out very nice. They both have a unique and awesome talent. I especially love how Nichol incorporated the little simon says stamp dog. Great job! Carole Lovill

  5. It’s just amazing what Nichol created. Didn’t think I needed these dolls until I saw this.

  6. Much of my childhood was spent cutting out paper dolls!! All that fussy cutting really has paid off in my card-making grown-up world.
    Love your creations, ladies!!

  7. Wow! Nichol’s creations are always amazing. And I have to say, when I first saw the waves stencil, oh that’s cool, but I can probably do without it. But the more I’ve seen it used on great watery backgrounds, the more I’m thinking it’s a must-have. Cool stuff!

  8. Gorgeous work of art! I always wondered what you would use the Prima doll stamps for, this is amazing, LOVE it!!
