Paper Artsy Flowers! Too Soon?

Ok, I may be ahead of the game here… or it’s wishful thinking that Spring will come early and the weather will finally warm up… I just had to brighten my day with some flowers!!!

I adore this Paper Artsy cling set, it’s called Smell the Flowers designed by Jo Firth-Young. I Love the whimsical look! This set offers a variety of images that you can use in different configurations on your cards.

I used Distress inks and markers to do some watercoloring by using the Tim Holtz Detailer Water Brush. And for a bit of sparkle, I added just a touch of Wink of Stella Clear brush marker to my flowers.

I’ve shot a video of the process for this card, hope you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by today, hope I’ve brightened your day.

  1. We need a little “Spring” right this very minute( to paraphrase another song ). This is a cute stamp set and thanks for the video using the Distress Inks and Markers. The card is gorgeous BTW!

  2. Absolutely love the the Paper Artsy JOFY sets! And your card is wonderful, love the black and white.

When I went to see the stamp set, I wish there was a way that I could just click on the ‘Paper Artsy Jofy’ part of the title and have a link take me to all of those sets. I know that you said you are ‘updating’ the website and that is one of the things that I find most frustrating is navigation.

    Thanks for sharing.

  3. Oh my goodness! I would never pick this stamp off the shelf but I took one look at your card and fell in love. I love how you use the distress inks and water pen. I really need to invest in getting one of them. I look at copic markers and feel overwhelmed at all the colours. I love how you use just a few colours from the distress inks and the card looks so elegant. I think I might just purchase some more distress inks. Thanks so much for the tutorial. I really learn a lot from the Simon Says blog. Thank you!

  4. Great card and I fell in love with these stamps last summer and again last Christmas; made a lot Christmascards with them! Inky greetimgs, Gerrina

  5. I don’t blame you one bit for wishful thinking that it was spring … it’s been an unusally bitter cold winter and I’m already dreaming of spring flowers. What a lovely card creation!

  6. What a fun and different stamp set! I really like the colors you used, and thank you for the video. I’m SO ready for flowers outside and the end of this dreary, cold weather. :)

  7. Good day Shari,

Beautiful card! I was wondering if this technique could also be done with Hero Arts Mid-Tone dye inks? Thanks.

  8. Your card is lovely Shari – a hint of spring to come! I love the JOFY Paper Artsy Stamps and you’ve showcased them perfectly. The Fiskars stamp press looks a good idea – I have seen photos but didn’t realise until I watched your video that it seems to be on springs, so that you can adjust your stamp placement before finally stamping – great! I also need to get a Wink of Stella pen now as everyone seems to be using them! Thanks for all the inspiration – I’m so glad I get your updates by email!

  9. Shari is one of my favorite artists. Her card is gorgeous and I am so ready for spring! We have 5 degrees with a -2 wind chill going down to -35! YIKES!

  10. Lovely card and a great stamps set. Love the colors. Makes me happy thinking that Spring will be coming soon. Thank you for sharing you’re great video.

  11. I love the artsy look and I love this artsy stamp. I am going to put this on my wish list and use it to help create my 2014 garden journal.
