One Stamp, Five Ways: Fairytale Spinners

Hi friends! Happy Tuesday, AND happy last day of June 2020! Can you believe it?! I can’t! Be sure to scroll on to see 5 beautiful cards showcasing our new Fairytale Spinners stamp and die set by Suzy Plantamura! Enjoy!

Hello friends! Today I have a “One Stamp, Five Ways” post to share with you using one of the brand new stamps sets from the latest release called Fairytale Spinners. I picked this one because the little fairies just caught my heart with their whimsical cuteness! I was also able to incorporate several of my previously owned SSS stand alone dies that go perfectly with these fairies!

For this card, I used the SSS Birch Column die cut from white cardstock. I placed that over a piece of watercolor paper I painted with Nuvo Shimmer Powder in Atlantis Burst.  I stamped the sentiment and the diamond designs on the top right with WOW Royal Crush embossing powder.

I stamped the grass and fairy from the stamp set with a light color of ink for a no-line stamping look. I then colored the fairy in with colored pencils. I painted the grass with watercolors. I attached them to the front of the card. I added some Ranger Stickles Diamond glitter glue to the wings. I used some glitter Nuvo Drops in Aquatic Mist around the sentiment.

I started this card by painting a piece of Canson mixed media paper with Lilac Waterfall and Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powders. I then die-cut the SSS Leafy Frame die out of that paper and attached it to a white card base. Because the mixed media paper is not as heavy as watercolor paper, it was easier to attach and to lay flat (90 lb instead of 140 lb).

Next, I stamped the fairy on watercolor paper and painted her with watercolor pencils. I use so many different types of watercolors depending on what I am doing and what I am in the mood for! With this small image, the pencils worked perfectly to outline each area and then paint it with water moving the color inside the space. I added Stickles in Diamond to the wings again. I stamped the flower on cardstock with a light ink and colored it with colored pencils. I attached both to the front of the card. I stamped the sentiment with Cactus Flower embossing powder. I ended up using this sentiment 3 times as it was just the right size for several of my cards, but there are a lot more choices in this stamp set!

This is my usual “random stamping” card. I stamped all of the flowers in the set on a piece of cardstock with a light color of ink. I then colored them all in with colored pencils. I always enjoy this technique as I love puzzles and it is fun to fit the designs around each other! I die-cut this with the SSS A2 Thin Frame die in the largest size so it left the card color as a frame beneath it.

I die-cut two of the SSS Sentiment Labels in white and pink for the sentiment. I embossed it with white embossing powder and layered the two pieces. I attached this to the bottom left side of the card. I stamped a small butterfly and attached that to the left side of the labels before I cut them to size. I added some PPP Sparkling Clear Sequins around the sentiment.

Once I had the idea for this card (using vellum over a design below a circle), but was trying different things under the circle and I thought my card above with the random stamped flowers looked perfect. But I had colored the full piece and didn’t want to waste all of the area I had colored that wouldn’t show! So I decided to do the same technique, but this time I stamped just the smaller flowers and butterflies on watercolor paper with a light color of ink. I colored them in with watercolor pencils. I die-cut the large double stitched circle from the SSS Shimmer Wreath Die out of white cardstock and layered vellum below it. I attached this over my watercolored flower piece for the front of the card.

I embossed the sentiment on the bottom of the card with Garden Patina embossing powder. I then stamped the fairy on white cardstock with a light color of ink and colored her in with colored pencils. I decided I wanted a little bit of an outline, so I used a fine tip black pen and doodled two lines around the edges. I used Stickles in Crystal over her wings. I think this solo image from the set is so cute looking out the window to the flowers. I love that the illustrator added the backside of the fairies to the set as well.

Of course I had to make a slim-line card with this cute set! I die-cut a piece of white cardstock to be 7” wide and folded that in half for the card base. I then cut a piece of 3.5” wide x 8.5” tall watercolor paper for the card front. I painted it with Atlantis Burst Shimmer Powder again! I use the shimmer powders for all my backgrounds as they can be very intense or used really soft as they are here.

I then embossed a sentiment on the top right side of the card using Garden Patina embossing powder. I also added two of the diamond shape stamps below the sentiment embossed in Silver embossing powder.

I stamped the images from the stamp set on white cardstock with a light color ink and then colored them in with colored pencils. I also doodled two black outlines around these with a fine tip black marker. I added Nuvo Glitter Drops to the wings in Lilac Whisper and Aquatic Mist. I arranged the images on the front of the card and added a small butterfly and some Nuvo Glitter Drops in Aquatic Mist.

Thank you so much for visiting today. If you have recently purchased this stamp set, I hope I have inspired you to think of different ways to use it. If not, don’t you want it now? Haha! I really enjoyed working with these darling images and it was easy to come up with 5 ways to use this stamp! Have a great week friends! Suzy
