New Beginnings Journal Page with Shari

Hi everyone, it’s Shari here with a journal page for you on this fine Saturday!

I was so excited by the technique Wendy Vecchi demonstrated at CHA …. I had to give it a whirl!  You can see Wendy’s video HERE.  I didn’t have the Archival re-inkers on hand so thought I’d give try using my Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts inks. (I snuck in the new Audrey Blue ink which will be available Feb 21st! shhhhhhh).  Also, I wanted to do a document type page, using a little pocket to hold a photo and my thoughts.

I like how the background turned out, it’s soft and subtle… just perfect for Baby News. It’s almost like glass when mixed with the alcohol, the layers are amazing in real life.

I love the Basic Pockets from Simple Stories, I can dress them up how ever I want!

A touch of Crackle Texture Paste added just a hint of Shabby to my page.

I’ve put together a full length video for you of the process, hope you enjoy!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by on your weekend!

  1. Your journal page is stunning. I love the colors and painterly effect you achieved and the icing on the cake is that wonderful Tim Holtz bird. I really enjoyed this Saturday video!

  2. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy & learn from Shari’s awesome videos and her talent. Congrats to her on her new grandbaby.

  3. Will have to try this technique – love your background results. Thanks for the video too – always helps to see how a process is done !

  4. I love Shari’s card today. This has really given me some inspiration to create something similar to it but use it as a birthday card.

  5. Hi Shari, I enjoy your art journal tutorials as much your cards. Love your take on Wendy’s archival ink and rubbing alcohol technique, and I also learned that we can get same results with Hero arts inks. TFS.

  6. I don’t think I would ever attempt in creating sth like this (i think I’ll stick to card making), but I love lloking at your page. It’s simply stunning. Also love the water colour effect you have achieved with stamp pads and rubbing alcohol. Amazing, love the soft colours, including the new SSS colour!
