Naughty or Nice?

Hi there, my name is Tanja and I am on the wonderful Gerda Steiner Design Team. Today, I have the huge honor to show you this adorable Christmas Card on the Simon Says Stamp Blog. Gerda came out with some fabulous new Christmas Stamp Sets this year. There really is something for everyone: Christmas Puppies, Little Christmas ReindeerHappy Snowman, Smell Like Christmas, and Christmas Kitties.

Of course, I had to use one of the fun little cats, for I have four wonderful cats myself. Read on to capture the step by step of how I made this card!

  1. Stamp the cute little cat and the bauble from the Gerda Steiner Designs Christmas Kitties set with Versafine Onyx Black and color the image with Derwent Inktense pencils and a damp watercolor brush
  2. Stamp the twig from that same stamp set with Delicata Emerald Green ink.
  3. Add highlights with a white gel pen and some sparkle with Wink of Stella Clear Glitter
  4. Apply Distress Oxide Ink Broken China through the Tim Holtz Stripes Layering Stencil to create a background stamp the sentiment from the same stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black.
  5. Adhere the stitched focal panel to another stitched panel cut from patterned paper from the Christmas plaid patterned paper before adhering all the layers to a white card base.

I hope you find your favorite critter to create this fun card design! Happy crafting!

Blog Candy Alert!! Follow our blog via email and comment on this post for a chance to win a special blog candy!

  1. Reminds me of our first cat. He broke one glass bauble each year and no more. It was as if he thought, if I break one I’ll get it out of the way and can resist the rest. I’ll just apologise and it’ll be fine. And it always was. He was such a fantastic cat and gave us so much that he deserved his bit of fun. Wonderful card x

  2. What a cute card! One of my cats is into knocking stuff off of places now and he’s 11. Who knows what he will do when the Christmas tree gets put up. This stamp set is wonderful.

  3. Super cute card!! love that perfect Christmas plaid pattern paper in the background and adorable Kitty, you have colored her so well, Tanja. … this card sure makes me happy!

  4. Hi Tanja and Welcome to SSS !!! I LOVE your card, the paper is so cool, I love the background, the colors, the coloring is awesome and I am in love with that stamp!! That is so cool you have 4 cats, I have a cat and a dog, if I could I would have 20 of each, I am such an animal lover and animal stamps. Thanks for sharing your card and hope to see lot’s more from you.

  5. My daughter has a naughty kitty. Two years ago he knocked over the whole tree. I will have to make this card and send it to her!

  6. Welcome Tanja!! :) Thanks so much for sharing this absolutely darling card!! It is most definitely “nice” and not naughty at all!! ;) I love the expression on this stamp from Gerda! So cute! Your use of color in the design really lets this kitty shine!

  7. Oh my goodness Tanja I love this card. Gerda Steiner has really sweet images and this kitty is proof of that! What an adorable card and the plaid background on this is fantastic! TFS!

  8. The kitty is so adorable and most cats are so fascinated by the Christmas trees and the ornaments, balls and lights when they are so young, boy do I have some stories! I grew up with 6 six cats, a dog, a bird, some gerbils and some hamsters and we lived in 600 square foot house and not on a farm LOL!! Then when I moved out and got married I had a cat who hated my husband and well my husband was not thrilled with the cat! The cat loved to sleep under the Christmas tree every year, but the first year when he was a kitten he climbed it and we found him in the middle of the branches, never did that again. He lived for 18 years and we got married, had two boys and brought a puppy into our family, don’t think the cat was thrilled with any of that! 10 years after the cat passed away, I adopted another kitten to the loud protests of my husband, but it was the best thing we did and my husband has a great relationship with the new cat who is now 3 1/2, but we’ve not put a tree up yet because we’ve traveled every year because of different reasons and we’ll be traveling again this year as well and I dread putting a tree up because I know he’ll be climbing it! Thanks for sharing such an adorable card!!

  9. Such a sweet cat, I have 3 of them and they so love to get at my Christmas tree, I even had a kitten who would sleep on the branches. Lovely card!

  10. Oh my goodness, I love this adorable Christmas kitty. Reminds me of my first little kitty and his fascination with our tree. Thank you for sharing your cute card and welcome to the blog.
