Monochromatic One-Layer-Wonder Holiday Cards: Yippee for Yana
Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)
Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video! I’m creating one-layer Christmas cards with the Home For The Holidays stamp set.
I used the new Sage cardstock from Simon Says Stamp, this is a stunning muted green, perfect addition to the current Simon’s color family. I cut the cardstock in half and scored it at the 4 ¼” mark to create A2 cards.
Next, I selected a beautiful cabin image and a holiday sentiment and stamped both in VersaClair Nocturne ink on the front of my card base. I went with 3 different sentiments to make slightly different cards.
I used Polychromors pencils by Faber Castell to add a bit of color; first – white to add snow under the cabin, in front of the fence, over the roof and windows; and a light and a dark green to add shading to the tree. Stunning!
A bit of falling snow was added around the image framing it, I used a Sakura gelly roll 0.8 pen to add the snow dots. Lastly, I embellished the tree using gems from Spellbinders, the smallest gems were the perfect size to create the ornaments for the tree. I used white, silver and gold. Red would also look stunning!
I hope you like this idea and will give this card design a try. Be sure to check out the new cardstock colors from Simon, they are simply perfect and bring a breath of fresh air to cardmaking! Have fun stamping!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and thanks to Yana for being our guest!
I love that these are easy to mass produce. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that stamping doesn’t have to be complicated to get stunning results!
I’ve loved the nostalgic look of this stamp set ever since I first saw it but I am not into coloring and I mostly mass produce cards so I wasn’t sure how I would use those wonderful images — until I saw your cards that is. Love the simplicity of these cards. It really allows the image to shine. Also love the color of the cardstock. Thanks to your wonderful design I now know how I can use this stamp set and will be putting it on my must have list.
These are gorgeous
Love the vintage, nostalgic look. Great card color from SSS. Love the whole “make.” Great job!
