Mixed Media: Watercolor Rings with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks
Welcome everyone!! I hope you’re having a great weekend! I’ve been playing around with my Tim Holtz Alcohol inks to create a project for a friend of mine.
I thought I’d try out the Alcohol Hard Core Art Panels to see what results I would get. The Art Panel is hardboard that has a coating, something substantial that you could frame. I’ve chosen some of my favorite colors to work with and encourage you to do the same.
My objective with this project was to get watercolor looking rings and overlapping colors. It turned out close to what I had imagined.
The area of purple at the top looks like a flower with a green leaf poking from behind, I was thrilled about it!! Once I had my background completed, I added my message using Tim Holtz Alphanumeric Letters cut from black cardstock.

So beautiful-luminous! This is my favorite color scheme and I love the rings theme. When u get tired of it, feel free to send it to me. I’m saving the supply list for when I get brave enough to try it. Alcohol ink art is so beautiful and you nailed it!

This is absolutely gorgeous and you always get me in trouble! Lol! Now I’m going to have to order the Hard Core Art Panels because it seems you can have more “control” of the alcohol inks by using a heat tool or hair dryer without fear of warping with these. Alcohol inks are fun because you’re never quite sure of the result and that’s why I like to use them. Thanks so much for always inspiring!

I really like that you have a bit of control with this technique, I don’t see any warping with the hard core panels, so I will give this a try. Your piece is stunning, your friend will love it!

Hi Lisa, yes… I tapped on some alcohol using a paintbrush. Hope that helps!
