Mixed Medium: Beautiful with Shari Carroll
Welcome to the blog everyone and Happy Tuesday! As we get closer to the holidays I think more about creating gifts for loved ones and this project is perfect for a that. I think a personalized gift is so heartwarming.
I’m so lucky that Melodys mom is such a great photographer and I get to play with the her photos. To start this project, I had the photo printed in black and white so I can add all my color using flowers, embellishments and paint.
The 6.5″ x 9″ Tim Holtz Framed Panel is the perfect size for a 4″x6″ photo. I used strips of Zella Teal paper from Prima around the picture to frame it out and to make the surface even.
Once everything was glued in place, I added streaks of paint by using my finger and wiped away portions of it with a baby wipe.
I added stickers and chipboards with meaningful word stickers to frame the photo.
And to finish my design, I added Zella Teal flowers and highlights of silver foil.
I have filmed the complete process which you can watch below or on our YouTube channel HERE.

Love, love, love this project!!! To my surprise I didn’t know that you could gesso a picture!! Looking at what you did, makes me want to do this project with my son and daughter-in-law’s wedding photo and highlight it with their wedding colors, just never knew that you could do that with a photo. Thanks for sharing this beautiful project with us, I always love watching you make your altered DIY items, I always learn something. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

These colors work beautifully with the black and white photo.
This is by far one of the projects I love the most of any I have seen – simple and stunning, I cannot wait to apply this for my granddaughter’s picture!!
Thank you so much!
Love this beautiful mixed media frame.
Very beautiful project. Love the colors used.
Wow!!! Really Gorgeous!!!
What a beautiful project and a wonderful way to save a great photo(how cute she is). I wish I could create something like this. I usually go overboard and create a mess! I know it’s art if the artist says it’s art, but sometimes(as in my case), it isn’t! LOL!
This is gorgeous. The little one is so cute. I really like the teal and the flowers add so much. Thanks for sharing.
I adore all of the Mixed Media projects created by Shari Carroll. One of these days I’m going to try my hand at it.
Wow. Just WOW
Such Beauty!! The frane, photo, papers, flowers, everything is so pretty. I love the colors and of course the best part is how you put it all together, that is the MAGIC!! Awesome job.
Beautiful. Love these colors together.
