Make Your Own Holiday Decor + Ornaments with Tim Holtz Palette Fabric!

Hello friends! Today I’m back with a festive project for the holidays that’s easy for beginners. I thought it would be fun to make some Christmas Trees and ornaments. I pulled out my Tim Holtz Palette Christmas fabrics. I love these vintage inspired fabrics. There is a beautiful collection with a Collage fabric, Holly, Linen Stripe, Worn Plaid, and a Remnants print. They will be perfect! for this project. Let’s get started!
For the small trees cut your fabric 4” X 4”. Cut 2 for the front and back. You can change the size of your trees by adding or decreasing to the height and/or width (4” x 5” , 3” x 4”, etc.). I used a pinking cutter to have a cute edge.
Fold the layers in half lengthwise and cut from the bottom corner to the top fold creating a triangle.
Cut several different colors and shapes.
Sew around the outside edge leaving an opening at the bottom. Stuff the trees as desired. I used a chop stick to push the batting in.
Sew the bottom almost closed except for a little whole for the stem to go in.
Insert a stick into the center and hot glue in place.
Tie a torn piece of fabric, twine or ribbon around the stick. Embellish trees as desired.
I found a little log for my base and drilled holes for the trees to sit in. Be sure to drill straight up and down so the trees sit up straight.
Place your tree in the holes and adhere.
If you’d like to create a hanging tree to make an ornament insert a string loop at the top when sewing around the edge. I tied a knot in the loop for security.
Sew around the edge leaving an opening, stuff with batting as desired and sew closed.
Embellish with candy canes, flair buttons, snowflakes , bells etc.
