Hi readers! Happy Saturday! Today I’m pleased to bring you some trendy (watercolor) inspiration with that sweet Lawn Fawn touch by the awesome and super talented Chari Moss!

Enjoy!

I really like watercolors but sometimes struggle with the flowing freedom watercolors bring. I feel that I am a rather structured designer most of the time so letting things go is hard. However I do like playing with them and getting out of that comfort zone.

For this card I decided to use them for my background creating big blocks of color flicked with perfect pearl mist. I think it made a nice flowing colored base to place the more crisp graphic images over top. I embossed the cake and sentiment in black so they would pop against the background. I used some colored gel pens to accent the candles on the cake and draw a border around the my watercolor paper. I chose to finish it by matting everything on a black card base creating a nice black frame that ties in with the embossed images.

  1. The last several projects I have done involve water color… Enjoying learning! Keep the good ideas coming…

  2. Love the silver splotches on your water-colour background–very festive. I am finding more and more uses for those Perfect Pearls I bought a few years ago…thanks!

  3. I love your use of such cheerful background colours (the green/blue/purple segue really works so nicely) with traditional birthday images in such a crisp black. Amazing.
