I Can See Clearly Now

Hello and welcome to a brand new week here on the Simon Says Stamp blog! Hoping everyone had an enjoyable weekend with lots of creative time! Speaking of creative time, have you seen the new challenge up on the Monday Challenge blog this week?

They’re challenging us to be completely transparent this week with our craft supplies and incorporate an element into our designs that we can see through. So grab your acetate, vellum, frost film or anything else that clearly fits in with this week’s theme, and let’s get creative!

Below are three projects created by the design team. The rest can be found on the Monday Challenge team blog here and if you click on each designers name, you’ll be taken directly to their blog where you’ll get more details about their project! ;)

Also, don’t forget that when you enter your projects into the challenge, you can win a $50 GC to Simon Says Stamp!

Most toy and gift packaging is recyclable. This week, I decided to use the toy packaging as the card base, and create this simple and fun card. The packaging was cut into a standard card size (4.25? X 11? and folded in half using bone folder) and decorated with Prima Flowers, American Crafts Chipboard Stickers, Vintage Trinkets and Say It in Crystals.

Wendy Vecchi’s Clear Clearly For Art seemed the perfect starting point for my Canvas used to create a wonderful dimensional transparent bloom combined with the Tattered Floral Die, colored around the edges with Aquamarine Reinker. My whole design was based around this flower and things slowly developed from there into an artsy canvas filled with many less transparent additions!

The spring set of Tim Holtz Blueprint stamps are among my all time favorites! To really make this colorful I went transparent with my stamping with embossing powder and then colored them with abandon using Dylusions sprays. I love how the original tag color shows through and the translucent sprays blend and layer to create this spring confection that will top a special present.

  1. Love the clear card – the clip is ideal for reinforcing the top fold. The colours on the tag are great too.

  2. WOW – this challenge adds an exciting element to all the projects today!!!
… I have used vellum to create dimensional roses but never as a layer on a project, so I hope to join the challenge :)

  3. Gorgeous clear card! I never thought to reuse plastic packaging for cards, now I’ll be on the lookout! Thanks for sharing these amazing projects.

  4. WAUW sooo many gorgeous creations here again from these talented girls. I just love the first one to bits, sooo gorgeous, but they´re all amazing and beautiful.

  5. Love the Monday and Wednesday challenge blogs, and the sampling of home-decor items show here. How fun to use paper-crafting supplies to beautify our homes or to make as gifts. Some CLEARLY good ideas!
