Hello Friend

Hi readers! Happy Tuesday to you! We’re popping in today for a sweet little inspiration from Simon pal and designer extraordinaire Lucy Abrams!  I love the pretty patterned paper she used underneath the die cut to make it pop even more! Enjoy & read on for more details!

Hello. It’s Lucy Abrams here with a quick and easy card featuring some of my favorite new products from Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts.

To create this card, I first die cut the cute little bird from the Songbird Branch set repeatedly from some recycled cardstock then added a die cut stitched edge from the Bundle of Stitched Shapes die set. I adhered this panel to some Pebbles patterned paper which I had taped to a notecard, then spritzed it lightly with Calico Shine Mister Huey’s.

Next, I die cut some small Greeting Blocks frames from pink papers, then stamped the sweet sentiment from Hero Arts’ Hello You stamp set, before adhering the frames together with foam tape and adding some looped silver thread. Finally, I added my sentiment panel to the card with more foam tape.

I love the way that this one small Songbird die can create a whole feature background. Tip: to keep my birds straight, I drew out a grid lightly in pencil. It helped a lot!

  1. This is really pretty. You have me looking through my small dies to see which I can try to repeat die cut for a similar effect. Hopefully it won’t turn out too wonky…

  2. Wow! Love the little bird repetition! So clever and a must do for this card crafting Christine! Thank you for sharing!

  3. I really love this card…such a great idea sometimes we think for a background like this we have to use a stamp. Thanks for sharing and reminding me that possibilities are end less…

  4. Love everything about this card. So clever to repeat the die cut & the angled frames for the sentiment is a great touch. Well done, Lucy.

  5. I really like the background paper and the spritz on the front of the card. It adds just a little dimension and detail that makes it special!

  6. Love how Lucy used a die I wouldn’t know what to use for into a general card. I usually stay away from images and things that I wouldn’t be able to use like these birds for example. But seeing this does that I could pretty much use it for anything.
