Happy World Cardmaking Day!!!
Hi readers!! Happy Saturday to you and HAPPY WORLD CARDMAKING DAY!
Hi Debby here and I’m delighted to be joining you on World Card Making Day for a Creative Uses post! I get a little thrill when I run my eye over the latest stamps and dies to look for a different spin; wondering which set will trigger an ‘a-ha’ moment! As the deliciousness of the STAMPtember release was laid out in front of me, my eye was caught by the pumpkins from the Thanksgiving Table set and how similar to hot air balloons they were when turned upside down. I stamped the two sizes of pumpkin in Memento Tuxedo Black and then coloured them (in any colour other than orange LOL) and cut them out with their matching dies from the Thanksgiving Feast set.
All was looking good apart from the stem of the pumpkins sticking down, I fixed this by stamping and die cutting the toppers from the Ornaments set. The toppers are coloured to match the balloons and then trimmed along the top to remove the ring area. These were then glued to the pumpkin stems and any overhang trimmed away. The balloons were then mounted over elements from the Cloud Bank die onto a patterned paper panel. The sentiment from the Road Trip set is stamped in Black onto a white banner again from the Thanksgiving Table set :D
While the Holiday Ornaments die set was on my table I thought that one of the ornament shapes was suitable for turning into a light bulb. I cut the die from some scratch paper and then used the negative space to blend in Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed and Black Soot Distress Inks onto a white panel of card. The perfect sentiment is from Objects of Love and the die cut heart is from the Large Holiday Shapes set cut from Lipstick Red card and then coated liberally in Xmas Red Stickles.
There’s a little Lawn Fawn twine tied around the panel and then it is mounted onto a white card base with Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste swiped through the great Zig Zag Dots stencil. I love this stencil for adding just the right amount of subtle detail :D
I hope you get the chance today to make a card for World Card Making Day!
LOVELY cards!!!!
Wow, two gorgeous designs! I am loving the inspiration!

Very fun cards.
Both of these cards are beautiful.
Love the balloons!
I was too busy reading all the card making blogs today to make a card.
Fabulous cards. Love how Debby found different uses for the stamps.
Debby, these cards are fantastic! When I saw the hot air balloons, I thought pumpkins, but couldn’t figure out how you did the bases. Ornament toppers–brilliant! I was able to finish one card, make another, and get a good start on a third yesterday for WCMD. Planning to do some more today. Thanks so much for sharing this awesome inspiration!
I absolutely love these cards! Super cute idea to put the heart in the light bulb!
Blessings,
Melitta
Wow, what a great way to get extra mileage from your stamps. Love the cards.
OMGosh those cards are FANTASTIC!!!!!! LOVE it when you get those a-ha ideas for out of the box designs :) Happy WCMD weekend everyone~!
Lovely cards! TFS :)
Love the textured backgrounds on both cards…you rock.
Absolutely LOVE your cards! What a great idea to use the pumpkins upside down! Thanks for sharing.
Beautiful cards!
Thanks for demonstrating different ways to use dies! I get stuck in a rut sometimes and your cards have inspired me.
What a clever use of those pumpkin stamps! I love the clouds in the BG.
So much fun to see the other uses, Debby! The pumpkins are brilliant and I’ll have to remember the “light bulb” idea.
Love the light bulb!
What great cards for cardmaking day. Love the light bulb one but the love how turning stamp upside down now you have a new stamp you never knew you had.
Love the cloud die
Very cool! I really like the added white and black as a balance to all that color.
Debby,
You are always an inspiration and delight! Thank you for sharing your talent and those “a-ha” moments!
Awesome cards!
Love the out of the box use of these more traditional dies – pumpkins to balloons and Christmas light for other than the holidays, brilliant. Love the white on white texture as well, thanks for inspiration!
Wonderful creations!
Love these ideas, the pumpkins are fantastic as hot air balloons and the light bulb too. Sometimes looking at things “outside the box” can be a curse especially when you’re trying to sleep and all these ideas keep popping into your head. I have had that happen to me.
Lovely cards! Very clever inspiration on stamp usage! Have to add the cloud die to my wish list!
Awesome cards!! Unfortunately due to health problems with my mother I was not able to participate in WCMD but there’s always next year!!
Great cards Debbie. As always :-) Love the use of the light bulb in the second card.
Love the cards and really makes me think of different uses for my stamps.
Both of these cards are clever to the extreme!! Love the use of the pumpkin as a balloon and the sparkly, glittery heart just makes me smile!!SO well done!!
Beautiful cards! :)
Love the way Debby trimmed down those cloud dies and layered them. Very cool!
A-mazing!
Awesome cards! Love the delicate clouds and the zig zag stencil!! Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful cards! The first one has the best sentiment to start the day.
Great cards. Thanks for the inspiration on WCMD!!
Debby has the best eye for seeing all the possibilities with a shape. Amazing cards. I especially love the balloons.
Awesome cards. Thx for sharing. God bless.
Adorable “pumpkin” balloons, what a great way to stretch those stamps!!
I adore this stretching of your stamps Debby! Love!! Such great cards.
Love it when stamps do double duty!
Love the floatiness of the balloons!
Debbie always makes such beautiful cards!
