Fluttering Butterflies Ink Blended Card: Yippee for Yana!
Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)
Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!
In this video, I’m creating with the Simon Says Stamp Fluttering Butterflies layering stencil to make a Birthday Card for a sister. I don’t have a sister, I’m the only child, but my friend has a sister and I was making a card with her in mind.
The Fluttering Butterflies is a set of 3 stencils, each covering a part of the butterfly. The stencils are etched and they tell you which color of ink to use for each layer. So you have a light layer, a medium layer, and a dark layer. How cool is that? I love that the product makes it easy for me as a cardmaker to use it, I don’t have to do guesswork, I can read the etching on the stencil, and boom, I know what shade of ink to use. Of course, I don’t have to follow this, I can do whatever I want, and so can you, but having this information etched on the stencil itself is invaluable!
I used 3 colors of ink for each butterfly and I did directional ink blending on my favorite Simon Says Stamp 130lb cardstock.
The colors I used are Cantaloupe, Peachy, Grapefruit, Seafoam, Tidepool, Limelicious, Citrine, Sherbet, and Guava.
Next, I stamped the sentiment overlapping the butterflies and added a “Happy Birthday ” sub-sentiment directly below it.
Lastly, I embellished my card with Simon’s Rose Gold confetti. Have fun stamping!
