Emboss Resist with Blending – Monthly Mail Art with Kristina Werner, October 2018

Hello, all! Kristina here with another Monthly Mail Art! For this envelope, I did some heat embossing and ink blending. :)

I started out by stamping the large floral image from the Sketched Flowers stamp set along the left and bottom edges of a white envelope in VersaMark ink. I applied white embossing powder to the stamped flowers and then heat set it.

To add color to the envelope, I used sponge daubers and five colors of Distress Ink: Fired Brick, Seedless Preserves, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, and Bundled Sage. The heat embossed lines resisted the ink and I was left with a pristine white lined image.

To finished off the envelope, I used one of the colors in the Finetec 6-color set for the address.

NOTE: Address used with permission. Thanks, Shirley!

Thanks for stopping by today! :)

  1. Kristina is the one that got me started decorating my envelopes. I would have never thought to do so other wise. Now this is another idea for decorating. This is absolutely beautiful!! I loved the October kit and have made a few cards. Now I will decorate the envelopes for them!! Thank you for a wonderful new idea.

  2. Beautiful envelope! I just love this beautiful stamp set and you’ve given me another idea of how to quickly color that large stamp!

  3. I love all your envelopes, and you have inspired me to try to be a bit more creative in decorating my own. How do you know how much postage to use? I never know how much my cards will require, so I always carry them to the post office. I would be so horrified if my recipient would have to pay extra postage.

  4. I’m always afraid my letters
will go in the junque box at
the PO if I get to elaborate
    with embellishments.
    The envelope is fantastic.
    thanks for sharing

  5. It always amazes me how these talented artists make it look so easy! I will give it a try, but expect muddy results. That beautiful lettering… forget about it! Kristina is a master!

  6. GORGEOUS WORK, Kristina!!! LOOOVE the colors you’ve chosen! SO RICH!!!I think the fall/earth colors are like “Jewel Tones!” I ALWAAAYS enjoy your mail art posts!
Question: What about water damage to the address’????
    AND I LOOOVE your pen!
    WHERE to get one????
Will Simon be carrying them too?

  7. Again a great envelope Kristina and thanks for (without knowing)answering my question, if I can use Micro Glaze on top. I wanted to know because I send cards to the other side of the world and I don’t want that my envelope get smudged with wet hands. Thank you for showing this awesome envelope.

  8. Love how you used the stamp on the envelope and the way you colored, very simple, but very pretty!!! I keep forgetting about the finger daubers :) I have them, but keep forgetting to use them, duh!! Thanks for sharing another beautiful envelope!

  9. What a beautiful envelope. If I could only letter like that….Ahhhh, I would probably send more cards. LOL
