Easy No-Sew Pumpkins with Tim Holtz Fabric! Not a Card with Nina-Marie

Happy October, crafty friends! It’s Nina-Marie Trapani here with you today and I have a very exciting project to share using Tim Holtz fabrics.

I am not a sewer/quilter (though I admire that talent and wish I had the patience to do it myself). However, the pretty patterns and designs on fabric are truly inspiring and I love finding ways to use these textiles in my creative projects that require little to no sewing. Have you’ve noticed that textured pumpkins are all the rage right now? From velvet to burlap, crocheted and wood, all of these textures make for some pretty cool fall decor. These inspired me to break out the Blue Bundle of Tim Holtz fabric and create a tray of pumpkins I can display for the season!

I used styrofoam pumpkins, which are available in our Simon Says Stamp store. These have a cream colored coating on them, which is perfect because the color won’t show through the fabric. You could also paint these pumpkins if you wanted to. The stem of the pumpkin is also removable, which is key for this project.

By removing the stem, it allows us to wrap the pumpkin with the fabric and then tuck it all in the hole. A little Collage Medium helps hold some spots together, but honestly the fabric is pretty secure once it is stuffed into the hole. After wrapping the pumpkin, I just glued the stem back into place. The look is so cool and required very little tools and supplies.

I wrapped all 7 pumpkins in a single evening! And the best part, is you can choose any colors of fabric for your pumpkins to match your decor. Because I don’t decorate my house much for fall (I save all that energy for Christmas, haha), these blue pumpkins fit in really well with my everyday decor. I have a few autumn stems paired with them to add a little touch of seasonal flair.
Be sure to watch the video to see these cuties come together! It’s a fun project that ANYONE can do… and they also make a great gift! I’m making an extra set to give to my momma. :)
