Hi, it’s Debby here for my monthly Doodling With Debby video feature on the Simon Says Stamp blog and for today’s card, I am watercoloring die cuts to create a bicycle scene.
For this card I used the Classic Bicycle die from Simon Says Stamp. A lovely elegant die with beautiful details and I combined it with the Mini Flowers & Leaves dies to create a cascade of flowers flowing from the bicycle basket.
The method for this card is very simple, I very roughly and loosely watercolored layers of color on to Arches Cold Pressed Watercolour Card using Daniel Smith watercolors. I then splattered with spare paint, Winsor & Newton Permanent White Gouache and Perfect Pearls solution before die cutting the elements from the different patches of color.
My card was inspired by this one I made over two years ago using the Beautiful Ride set. On this card, I no line watercolored a bicycle scene with cascading purple flowers, and I wanted to recreate this card with dies. If you ever feel in a creative rut, looking back over cards you have made in the past is a great way to get the mojo going again.
Back to the die cut version of this card and I also lightly watercolored a background and die cut the panel with a Wonky Rectangle die before adhering the panel to a Desert Storm card base. I then adhered the die cut elements with a combination of foam adhesive and Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.
For the sentiment, I stamped a greeting which went well from the Vacation Time set in clear embossing ink on Slate card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and adding with foam adhesive.
I added a few Groovy Confetti sequins and also lots of dots of Ivory Seashell and Pale Periwinkle Nuvo droplets which helped to expand the cascade of flowers a little and added lots of texture and dimension too.
Thanks for joining me today, and I’ll see you next time for Doodling With Debby.
