Hello, Friends! Thanks for joining me today for a watercolor slimline card using the Spring Bouquets set from Simon Says Stamp!  This 6” x 8” stamp set has two bouquets (the one I didn’t use is great for mini-slimline cards).  I embossed the image I used to do quick(er) watercoloring for today’s card.

Embossing the image creates a raised edge between the petals of the flowers and foliage and helps me stay in the lines so I can focus more on the watercoloring process and less about being perfect with the outlines of the image.  I have a video to share and I hope it helps you to see my process.

After watercoloring, I die-cut my image and set it aside to work on a background.  I ink-blended some green, pink and, purple to coordinate with the Spring Bouquet image that I painted.

Daniel Smith Watercolors used:  Sepia, Quinacridone Gold, Quinacridone Violet, Quinacridone Rose, Sap Green, Hooker’s Green

Pawsitively Saturated Inks used:  Blush, Bubblegum, Fairway

I attached my watercolored  image with foam adhesive over my ink-blended panel and splattered it with white paint to give it more interest.  While the paint splatters dried, I worked on the sentiment.

I finished my card today by embossing the sentiment in white over black cardstock.  I cut a straight edge along the bottom of the sentiment and fussy cut around the sides and top to get close to the letters. 

I hope you like this simple card!  The watercoloring can be intimidating for a lot of people, but embossing does make the process easier and is a great place to start if you want to give it a try.  Thanks so much for visiting today!~Caly
