Crafty with Caly: Cosmos Flowers

Hi friends! Happy Sunday! We’re delighted to welcome back special guest Caly Person with this seriously lovely floral card inspiration! Be sure to read on and watch the video for all the details! Enjoy!

Hello, Friends! Thanks for joining me today as we create a spring card using the coordinating products using the Cosmo Flowers Stencil and Cosmo Flower Petals Dies!  We will be ink-blending and die-cutting to create today’s project.

To begin, I stenciled my project onto a white panel using Pawsitively Saturated inks using the Cosmo Flowers Stencil.  I used Bubblegum, Sweets, and Taffy for the Cosmos flower petals and Lemonade for the centers.  Then to fill in the white space, I ink-blended the open areas with Fairway ink.  I really wanted really intense color at the base of the petals.  I have a video to share with you if you’d like to watch!

WATCH THE VIDEO:

Before I moved on to the Cosmo Flower Petals Dies, I watered down some Taffy ink and splattered my panel to give it more interest.  On some kraft cardstock, I ink-blended the flower center base using Cappuccino ink.  Then I topped it with a yellow piece cut from Lemon Chiffon cardstock.

For the flower petals, I only used the delicate outline dies.  Since I had already ink-blended using the stencils, I didn’t want to cover it up.  So I ink-blended some white paper to match the blend of the Cosmos flowers on the background and die-cut the outline petals to adhere over the flower on the stenciled panel.  I adhered the petals to the underside of the floral center piece, then adhered the flower to the card using foam adhesive.

Next, I cut a sentiment from the Reverse The Best Friends sentiments set and adhered it to my card using some foam adhesive.  I then finished with a few iridescent sequins.

I hope this card gives you all the spring vibes!  Thanks so much for being here today! ~Caly

  1. What a lovely and interesting card. It was extra special to put the die cuts over that one flower. So pretty. Thanks for sharing your tips and techniques with us.

    1. I love your card and am a big fan of cosmos images. Do you know how the size of this stencil & die set compare to the Cosmos Background cover die that Simon makes?
