Hi friends! Please join me in welcoming back the oh-so-talented and amazing Yana Smakula! (Please note: our dear friend Yana is Ukrainian. To show support to our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, please see Yana’s post HERE.)
Hello, crafters, this is Yana Smakula for Simon Says Stamp! Welcome back for another Yippee For Yana video!
In this video, I have a birthday card to share that I created for my travel bestie. I have 2 girlfriends who have also become my travel besties in 2023, we’ve gone on several trips together in 2023 and every time we get together, the hop topic on the discussion agenda is where are we going to travel next, when the next airplane tickers sale is, and what cool places we can explore. And one of these girlfriends, her Birthday is coming up soon so I decided it would be really fun to create a travel theme birthday card for her.
I searched my stash for stamp sets that would work well for the idea that I had in mind and I found several older sets from Simon that all combined wonderfully on this project. Be sure to watch my video for the detailed how-to.
First, I made a background by ink blending a giant sun using Sherbet, Watermelon, and Lipstick Red inks on the Sunshine panel using the largest circle mask. Boom! That sun is so impactful! The sentiment was stamped using several sets:
- Happy Birthday and Let’s Get This Party Started – Put Your Party Hat On
- Book a Flight – stamp surgery done on 2 small sentiments from the Miss You Missy stamp set
- The Beach is Calling My Name – Let’s Get Away
Added the background to A2 top folding card base.
Next, I stamped the beach umbrella, chair, hat, cocktail, and SPF bottle using images from the Let’s Get Away set. These were colored using Copics:
- RV00, RV10, RV11, RV13, RV14
- E33, E37, E11
- Y35
- C1, Colorless Blender
- W1, W3
I cut images out using coordinating dies and popped them up on the ink-blended background with foam adhesive squares. The card is almost done.
For that one extra touch, I stamped a snarky sentiment on the inside of the card using the Sassy Flaps stamp set.
And lastly, I added seagulls on the front using the Seas and Greetings set. Have fun stamping! -Yana
