Art Journaling with Shari Carroll: Gel Printed Pocket

Welcome everyone and happy Friday! I’m here to share another entry in my Tim Holtz Travel Folio that I’ve turned into a journal book. I’m having a great time adding artful pages to this journal using different techniques.
For today’s page, I’ve pulled out my Gel Printing supplies and played with some paints to create a handmade envelope and journal card for my folio. I tried to just go with the flow with no real plan, just adding color to the plate, thinning out the colors with a brayer, and pulling prints.

The Simon Says Stamp Mini Slimline Envelope die is a perfect fit to create pockets for this size journal. The final paper I used for the envelope was standard printer paper. I wanted this to be lightweight and easy to fold.

To me, Art Journaling is trying new things, working with layers, and giving myself encouragement through words. Oh, and of course, enjoying the process!! I hope I’ve inspired you to try something new even if it’s in your card making and to make your experience personal.
