Art Journaling: Be True with Shari Carroll
Welcome everyone!! I hope you’re having a creative and fantastic Saturday!
I have an art journal entry, my first of the year…wooohooo! I’m going to try to get a little looser in my art this year and be more experimental with my techniques. I hope you’ll join me through this journey.
I’m working in the Dina Wakley Media Journal, it’s super cool with different papers and cloths to work on. For this entry, I used Dina’s paints and did her flowy paint background on the watercolor surface.
I started off by using white gesso on the watercolor pages, then mixed the paints with water and allowed them to blend together. I used a stencil to create the trees, using the paint with my finger, then outlining with white and black pens.
The black Pitt artist pens are great to use for smudging, just wipe them around before they dry completely. I also stamped onto some Jane Davenport tapes to create some messaging and layered them on top of some washi tapes.
I have filmed a complete process video which you can view below or on our YouTube channel HERE.
