Art Journal Feature with Darkroom Door

StampTember-DarkroomDoor

Hi everyone and happy Saturday! It’s Shari here with a special art journal feature. Darkroom Door has created two stamp sets exclusively for Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® event!

Love these stamps, so many possibilities! The one on the left is Warm Wishes and on the right is Enjoy The Journey. I’ve used a few stamps from each set for my art journal page today. I started with the flowers by clear embossing them on my background to create a resist.

I used some of the new Prima Arts Basic mediums to create some layers, and Dylusions sprays as paint. Once happy with my background, I stamped more of the Darkroom Door images with black ink over the top of all my treatments.

My Dylusins inks gave me a happy surprise, my brown turned out kind of purple when applied over the Crackle Paste. Delicious!!!

I shot a video of my process and this time I did it “live” since I used a lot of new product that needed some explanation. I’ve split it up in to two parts, Enjoy!

And on to Part 2.

I hope you like the voice format, if so, I’ll do more like this in the future.  Thanks for stopping by today!

  1. I really like your mixed media art journaling and Ilove both sets of stamps. Butnwarm wishes is something I have been looking for so it will be a must havein my next order.

  2. Enjoyed seeing all the various pastes, gessoes, mica flakes, etc in action. I love the effect crackle texture paste. Your video was great and the explanations of what you were doing was very helpful.

  3. I always love your jouirnaling page videos, Shari. I am always learning something new. I love today’s flower stamp set.

  4. Wow. This card is amazing as I watched each layer take form I was so in love with the colors, textures and found this inspiring. I’ll be back!

  5. Thank you for all your inspiration! Love the layers, techniques, stamps, fab colors and design. Thank you also for the video.

  6. Alcohol removes the ink from the page? I didn’t know that! I loved watching the process and it was great to know what the products did and why you used them. So many times people just say what they are using but not why or what he product does!

    Thanks Shari!

  7. Enjoyed learning about the variety of mediums used in this project – especially the glass glitter, mica flakes and crackle texture paste. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and inspiration!!! LOVE the idea of creating Art Journal pages to be housed in a Flip Book. Looking forward to seeing your end result!! :-)

    1. Hi Marcie! I removed the message with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel. I just wasn’t happy with it! Hope that helps!

  8. I have to admit, I’m not much of a “collage-y” type person; but I really enjoyed seeing how you used all the different products and learning about a few that were new to me!

  9. Such fun stamp sets. . . love the texture and color of this journal page. . . interesting tip to remove mistake with alcohol ink.

  10. I really enjoyed this video. I think I like it better “live” rather than when you do voice overs because it’s fun to here your reaction to what you are doing.
