Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop Day 1 with Shari Carroll
Welcome to the Altenew Crafty Friends Blog Hop!!! If you’re coming from Laura Jane‘s blog, you’re in the right place. We are celebrating our unique stamping community by sharing projects inspired by what we love, stamping and crafting!!
Right now, I’m inspired to make Christmas cards. I thought it would be fun to use some non-holiday stamps to create my card. I used the Altenew Watercolor Dots and Holiday Script Words to create a clean and simple look.
I stamped the star images first and silver embossed them. Next, I stamped the dots in white to finish off my quick background. I cut a triangle from red cardstock and mounted it to the card with a silver circle at the top. I used the “Believe” die from the Holiday Script Words die set from Silver Silk Tonic paper mounted to a strip of Slate cardstock. Pretty easy peasy!!!

My question to you: Is the triangle on my card a tree or a Santa hat? I’d love to hear your answers!!!

Very cute
Fun and fabulous card!
Fabulous card. I
believe the triangle
is a Santa hat!
Carla from Utah
I see a tree! Fun card!
it is both! kind of like those drawings where you see what you expect to see. with a different perspective you then see something else. I saw a tree first but it could be a santa hat. no matter, they are both cute.
Thanks for sharing
Love the quick and simple design of this card. It seems like there isn’t enough hours in the days any more especially this time of year. I think it looks like an elf hat. Great card. Thanks so much for sharing your art.?
I love the pop of color on this card.
Wow. So simple and so elegant. Thank you for the ideas.
love the red tree against a muted background
I see a Christmas tree. I wouldn’t have thought to look thru my stamps and dies that are not a specific holiday/season that I’m trying to create.
Thank you, Doris
So cute…the sentiment makes me think Santa hat…but I saw a tree until you suggested that alternative. Now I can see both. Love it!
Loved your clever card. My eye saw a tree but after you mentioned a Santa hat I could see that also. I think if you added a little white at the base of the triangle it would be a hat. I love your background. Thanks for sharing your time and talent with us.
Fun card – love the creativity and this beautiful community…xx
This card is so elegant and beautiful! Love the gorgeous background and the festive pop of red.
That card is really pretty. Love the silver & red.
I love how you made this from non-holiday stamps Shari! So clever and very cute! Definitely Santa’s hat to me!
Love the silver and red, lovely card!!
Lovely card!
Wow! Gorgeous card! I think yours is a cool Xmas tree!!!
So cute and festive. I’m inspired. Thank you!
Oh, Shari! I am always blown away by your style! I just love your ideas and the way you do them!
I see a red tree (white house inspired? LOL)
Love the inspirational background. The off set of the accent stars to the dots is something I would never have thought of without your inspiration.
Really awesome cards!
I love how festive this card is and it has so many interesting parts to it! So creative!
Such a neat card Shari! I definitely see a modern sleek nontraditional tree.
Great! Love the different take on the tree and believe. Thanks for sharing your designs
Beautiful card. I love the color combination.
Also, I think the triangle is a tree. That’s how I saw it.
Tree or Santa hat? Hmmm, we’ll it could be either really, but I’m leaning towards Santa hat. Swap the pompom out for a star and you’ve got a tree. Nothing at all atop, cut from some yellow cardstock, add a little mouse, and it could be a yummy piece of cheese. Easy peasy ?
This is a great card! It reminds me of those cute little gnomes that have their face hidden by a Santa hat.
Stunning! At first… I thought a tree… but… now I see the Santa hat. Very creative.
nice
I thought it was a tree….but when I think about it I like it BETTER as a Santa hat!! :o) Super cute.
OMG–so cute. Thanks for sharing with us.
I really love your card! The images and colors are great. I can see both the tree or a Santa hat, and I think either one works perfectly with the card. :)
My first thought was a tree and
I’m sticking to it. After
you mentioned the hat, I could
see the hat. Wonderful card.
Love the silver. thanks
for sharing

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful holiday card. I am new to card making and Simon Stamps seems to have taken the cake for some of the best stamp sets I’ve seen. Really looking forward to using some of your products in the future!
Love the card. Such a cute TREE! :)
What a cute card. I did not even see “hat” until you mentioned it in the video. It kind of looks like a hat but i definitely see tree!
I love this card and the colors. I need the “Believe”.
I just love our cards. Always so clean and fresh. I think its a tree
What a fun background! I love the pop of red from the tree and the clear drops!
How gorgeous! I can see both – initially I saw a tree, but then I thought that with the “bauble” on top, it looked more like a Santa hat with the white Pom pom – plus, the sentiment “believe” suits more to a Santa story, I think… but it could totally be both, it’s one of these clever designs where different people will see different things :-)
Adorable card. I think it looks like a Santa hat because of the word believe accompanying it. It could also be a monochromatic tree though. Thanks for being part of the blog hop.
That is a fabulous card – love the use of the gray tones and the red accents – and it has a fun, modish look!
I LOVE this cute little Santa hat idea! This is so creative and fun and it looks awesome!
Beautiful card! For me it’s a Christmas tree and I love the details with the Nuvo drops.
Cute card, love the silver and red.
Love this modern look Christmas card and great that you showed how to use Non Holiday stamps for it.
Thank you so much for sharing this great idea.
