A Rainbow of Fun with Jess Larsen!

Hi Bloggers! Happy FRIDAY to you!!!! This has been a whirlwind week, so what a fabulous way to end it with this very cheery content!

The lovely and talented Jess Larsen provided us with 3 fabulous cards with brief descriptions on how to make your own version! Don’t forget to check out the video below, too!!

From the artist:
Don’t get me wrong, I love gems, sequins and enamel dots as much as the next crafty girl, but sometimes, I’ve got to keep it simple. One layer cards are quick, easy and can pack a surprising amount of punch. No embellishments needed! Today, I decided to make a trio of soft rainbow cards using an assortment of Hero Arts Shadow Inks, as well as some all new stamps from the Hero Arts Stamp Your Story Catalog.

The “Hello” card was tedious, but well worth it!  I took the two arrow stamps from the Time set and stamped them in a diagonal pattern using the same rainbow inks. The most time consuming part was cleaning off the arrows in between each inking, but the result is so cool and something that would be difficult to achieve with a background stamp! I love taking the small, unassuming stamps from a set and challenging myself to use them as a focal point on a card. It helps me stretch my sets and makes me think outside the box!

For the “Be Yourself” card, I took an assortment of brush stroke stamps from the Notebook Essentials set, as well as the Brush Strokes set. I arranged them on my block in different ways to create a unique look using just three stamps. I also got to try out my new favorite rainbow combination. In “rainbow order” the Shadow Inks I used were Pale Tomato, Soft Cantaloupe, Butter Bar, Green Hills, Tide Pool and Passion Flower. These inks yield a very soft, pretty effect.
The last card was my favorite out of the bunch, and definitely the easiest to create. I took the thin chevron image from the Notebook Essentials set and continued my rainbow stamping theme. I layered the “Wish Big” sentiment over the chevrons using Versafine Onyx Black ink. This ink works great layered over other inks because it never bleeds and is very opaque.
Thanks so much for having my on the Simon blog today!  See you soon!
