Framed Up Tropical Summer Card Duo

Hi friends! Heather Hoffman here to share a bright and summery set of cards featuring the perfect summer set, and a fresh color combo that just screams tropical vacation happiness! I also used a fun double stamping and heat embossing technique to make these amazing images POP! Keep reading to find out how!

I love the Keep Palm set that released a little earlier this year, and thought it would be fun to feature the main large frame image in a couple different ways. And I knew I wanted to use a tropical teal color, and was trying to pick what to pair with it, and when I noticed that yellow cardstock on my desk that I had die cut with one of the Grandstand Frames dies, I knew it was perfect! I knew I wanted to use both the positive and negative, so I set off to stamp them both. The two cardstocks are Simon Says Stamp Honey and Gina K Emerald Isles.

For the shaker card, I stamped that frame image on a white cardbase with Tropic ink, then using a MISTI for perfect placement, I stamped again with Clear Embossing ink over the top, then clear heat embossed. Then I did a bit of ink blending over the top with Tidepool ink, and a bit more of that same Tropic ink for the very edges for good depth. For the other card, I wanted to make sure that image popped really well on the yellow, so I tried something new! I first stamped over the top with white pigment ink, then using the MISTI again, I stamped right over the white pigment ink with that same Tropic ink, and then clear heat embossed again. The white pigment ink gave it a base to shine over the top of the yellow cardstock!

Next, I created the shaker element for the first card, adding a slightly smaller white frame to help it all pop, then filling it with lovely Baby’s Breath Embellishment mix. For the other card, I die cut a slightly larger layer of white cardstock, then wrapped some May Arts white ribbon around and tied in a bow.

The shaker card felt like it needed some more interest, so I stamped several images from the set the same way as the inside so they were heat embossed, and blended some of the same inks over top after die cutting. I arranged those in one corner and adhered with liquid adhesive. I also stamped a couple of sentiments from the Keep Palm stamp set in Nocturne ink, and die cut those, popping up with foam on each one. Finishing touch was a few Dazzling Clear Gems for a touch more sparkle!

What is your favorite summer color combo? I would love to hear what color combo you would create these cards in!
