Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for our Birthday Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.
We also have a special challenge for children between the ages of 2 and 16! CLICK HERE or on the logo to go directly to the challenge page
This week we are challenging you to join us on an ocean adventure by creating something
Many of our friends have spent their summer vacation on board cruise ships, some have been boating on lakes, and some have been sailing across one of the seven seas, we would like you to cruise along with us and create something with voyages into the unknown in mind.
As always the lovely Heidi and her team at Simon Says Stamp will be giving away a fabulous $50 voucher to spend in their super fantastic online store! You have to be in it to win it!
Remember to click on the person’s name to see all of the details of how we made these creations and leave these wonderful girls some comment love
Anna-Karin happened to do another whale project this week, after last week’s card, but this time an art journal page. She used Hero Art’s Layering Blue Whale stamp set, together with layers of Distress Oxide Inks, to create this scene.
Cathie created a deep sea exploration hunt using the Tim Holtz Mini Sand & Sea die set along with My Favorite Things Pierced Circle Stax. The background was created using several Distress Spray Stains and the treasure pieces were “rusted” with Prima Rust Effects Paste.
Emma chose to embrace the journey with her nautical project all about adventures at sea and used an image from Tim Holtz’s Photobooth set, placed on a bed of texture which was created using the Bubbles Layering Stencil and some rusty Industrial gears.
Kath went to sea with The Owl and The Pussycat aka Tim Holtz Sizzix Crazy Cats and Bird Crazy in a beautiful pea green boat made with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tea Time die and encountered the scary octopus from Tim Holtz/Stampers Anonymous Sea Life
Lols decided to to create something ‘Astro-Nautical’ using some of the new products in the ‘Encouraging Words’ Release. She created a galaxy background using Fired Brick, Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans Oxide Inks and then spritzed with water and white gesso. Lols also used a ‘You’re A Star’ and Space Journey Craft Dies to complete her ‘out of this world’ scene.
Macarena really loves all the nautical details, seashells, boats, everything related to the sea. This time she made a nautical tag incorporating seashells she brought from the seaside. She used SSS Ring Frame die hidden on the background and as a focal points two images from Tim Holtz Nautical Blueprints stamp set. She colored the images using Distress Inks and the backgrounds with Distress Oxide Inks.
Maura headed right to the ocean in her Dylusions Art Journal. She used Tim Holtz’s Sea Life stamps for the creatures of the deep, and Laurel Burch’s Mermaid Fish for the surface waters, coloring them all with Dina Wakley’s Scribble Sticks.
Meihsia was inspired to create a mixed media wall hanging using Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stain on the background and decorated it with her favorite sea creatures using Tim Holtz Rubber Stamp Mini Prints.
So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!

We have five artists in the Designer Spotlight for the Happy Birthday Challenge!
#54 Amy’s Card Obsession – Macarena says: This set is amazing. I can feel the summer and sun and even a taste of watermelon while I’m looking at Amy’s cards. I absolutely love the messy and crazy watercolor backgrounds and the glossy details give such a yummy look. Great work!
#85 Coco and Pear – Meihsia says: This is such a gorgeous birthday card with many beautiful Victorian shabby style elements. I love all the fabulous embellishments and details. Great design!
#142 Trina – Andrea says: Who wouldn’t adore a swinging piñata card? I love the interactive aspect and the color blending is absolutely gorgeous.
#170 Andie Miller – Anna-Karin says: Andie made a fantastic golden shaker card. All the gold sequins are so pretty and make a wonderful background for the pretty watercolored flowers. The white embossing on the flowers is also a really nice touch.
#183 Rosali – Emma says: Rosali has created such a beautiful card, so elegant and stylish and I adore the way she framed the central section with the stamped borders, it’s just so pretty and I’m sure anyone would love to receive it!
