This is Zoey’s last week with us in the Designer Spotlight and we would like to thank you for all of your fabulous creations over the past month. It has been a real pleasure having you along with us.

Zoey: “Love when you are ready, not when you are lonely”  is the quote that inspired my project today.

MixedMediaShadowBox_Zoey_Scrapsaurus_SimonSaysStamp

I used a mix of scrap paper from Crowded Attic and  Postale Tissue Wrap Paper and I used Gel Medium to stick everything together. I then brushed it over with Gesso to mute the colors. I used a Mesh Layering Stencil  and Aged Mahogany and  Walnut Stain to add color to the background.I modelled the wire to get a figure and a heart balloon and I covered part of the figure with Postale Tissue Wrap Paper and added color with an Aged Mahogany Distress Marker. I embellished with Raspberry Seed Beads and Corked Vials.

Andrea loves fortune cookies and thought others might love these little Valentine’s treats, too.

Oh how I adore fortune cookies!  When I was a teen, my dad would often surprise me with a bag of fortune cookies that he’d picked up at an Asian market close to his work.  Not only do I love the taste and intriguing fortunes that these cookies offer, but they remind me of the many little ways my parents let me know they love me.  So when I saw the American Crafts Valentine Fortune Cookie Kit, I had to give it a try!  I added some words made with Tim Holtz’s Label Letters and gave these some more color oomph with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink.

Anna-Karin made a mosaic pen holder for her desk.

I love the look of mosaic and was looking forward to trying out Ranger’s Distress Mosaic Kit. The final result looks really cool and it is easy to do. The pen holder was embellished with Tim Holtz idea-ology pieces, such as an airplane and a Shield charm. Words were die cut with the Adventure Words Script.

Barbara has created this canvas thinking to her  beloved husband (25 years of love !)

loveredsimonA

I dedicated my canvas  to my husband and me,  because 2016 means to us 25 years of love! We met in 1991 …. Neither of the two  likes to be photographed and I used for this project   a photo  from Found relatives, I did some  mixed media experiments ( I must to learn  much more in this craft zone!!!) , using Dina Wakley White Gesso  and Distress Paint, to finish  I gave a touch of red and gold (Vintage shiny foil). At last  I added a Word band, perfect to describe my feelings!

Cheiron used her new favorite red, Candied Apple on her love themed card.

cheiron- love you

I made this valentine by mono printing with the Doily Layering Stencil onto Distress watercolor card stock to create my background in shades of pinks and reds. To tie it all together, I die cut and painted the Ornate Frame in a gorgeous shade of Candied Apple Distress Paint. Bunches of fun little hearts from the Heartfelt and some mirrored hearts decorate the frame.

Emma‘s treat box has been struck by Cupid’s arrow!

LoveIsInTheAirEmma

As Cupid get’s ready to fire his arrows, I chose to make a little jewel incrusted box full of chocolate treats and all wrapped up in a crinkle ribbon bow. I added glittered die cut hearts to the painted and stamped sides and completed the box with a Trophy Cup, holding a couple of gilded adornment arrows and full of love potion number 9!

Lols made a tag for her husband to use on the gift he is going to buy her *wink*

I love these Crazy Birds and couldn’t resist dressing him up as a dapper gent in a dickie bow and top hat from the Crazy Things Set. I inked the tag with Mowed Lawn, Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky Distress Inks and then used some Embossing Paste and Hearts Stencil to add more texture.  I used the heart and ‘ground’ from a Scribbles and Splat Die Set  and ‘i love you’ from a Small Chat Stickers Pack. Now I am hoping that hubby will buy me a nice gift to attach this to, not that I am dropping any hints or anything!

Maura is loving adding some pink to her steampunk.

LoveInAir

I’ve been challenging myself to move out of my color palette, and this time, it’s pink. Add that to something I would not tie in with pink, steampunk, or as I am calling this – SteamPink! I love steampunk, which just goes to show this challenge can be about anything you love. I went for the brightest pink I could find, Dylusions Bubblegum Pink and my touch of red, is the delicious Candy Apple Red Distress paint. It’s always fun to add the embellishments when I have ones like Tim Holtz’s Mini Gear Sprockets and Sprocket Gear Watches to use. Of course, I had to add some love, and the Big Chat stickers were just the thing.

Meihsia created an art journal page with her favorite mixed media elements.

Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts Mixed Media Art Journal Love 600

It’s always fun to experiment different medias and elements in the art journal. I sprayed the background of this page with Distress Spray and ColorBox Stencil. The die cut letters were colored with Distress Paint and layered on top of the burlap and cheese cloth. I really adore this sentiment so I stamped and embossed it with ColorBox black ink and clear embossing powder.

Sandra loves trying new things in her art journal

I love my art journal and trying different things in it. I love Ikea and this is kind of an ode to that store. Do you see the pages of the catalog in the back? Wonderful for creating an interesting background. To cover most of it up I applied a thin layer of Gesso. As the theme is using red, I’ve mostly used Bubblegum Pink and Barn Door Paint.

Suzz created a striking tag full of love.

I want to thank Heidi, Stephanie and Lols very much for the time spent on the design team. It has been a wonderful experience!  My tag today celebrates love with a mix of reds, pinks, gray and black.  I used the Tim Holtz Tiny Tattered Florals to create a path of flowers. I stenciled the background with the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil – Valentine to add a strong graphic in the background.

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!
