Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge.

Thank you for joining us for the Winter Challenge and we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year.

We will be announcing a Design Team Call so be sure to pop back tomorrow!

This week the challenge is

SOMETHING NEW

With the dawning of a  New Year New it’s time to think about Something New, New Baby, New Home, New Job, New Crafty Stash, I am sure you will all think of something and we will be looking forward to seeing what it is!

We are introducing a couple of new features to the challenges. We will be showcasing a brand or product designer every first Monday of the month and to start the ball rolling we are all using Tim Holtz Products! Tim is a great inspiration to all of us and I am sure that most, if not all of us have something of his in our crafty stash.  You don’t have to use Tim Holtz‘s products to join in with the challenge, but if you have them we would love to see them used!

We will also be inviting crafters to join us in a monthly Designer Spotlight. We will be looking for vintage,  artistic style designers, so if you would like an opportunity in the spotlight then please enter the challenges and show your arty side.

As always Simon Says Stamp will be giving away $50 voucher to shop at the fabulous Simon Says Stamp Store

Our first designer in the spotlight is the lovely and super talented Zoey aka Scrapsaurus. Zoey has a fabulous blog and if you haven’t visited her before then you are in for a real treat! Please visit her blog and give her a warm welcome!

Zoey loves the ‘magic’ of the lifecycle of a butterfly and the beautiful new life when it bursts free from the chrysalis.

I wanted to alter a canvas, for the background I used pieces of paper from the Tim Holtz Paper Stash Crowded Attic. I sealed the sides of the canvas with Tissue Tape Symphony Music Self Adhesive Vintage Paper. I toned down the paper with Dina Wakley Gesso and added color with Fossilized Amber, Mermaid Lagoon,Walnut Stain and Black Soot Distress Inks. I die cut from pieces of Black Cardstock  a butterfly from a Butterfly Duo Die Set and made the ‘roses’ using a Tattered Pinecone Die.

Andrea wanted to start out a new year with a new planner.

I love the new Simple Stories Carpe Diem planners!  I wanted to use this planner as a reflective journal and place to record ideas and inspiration.   This is the front page for my creative ideas section and I used one of my favorite Tim Holtz dies, the Picture Wheel, to give it some oomph.  I colored the wheel with Distress Ink and Distress Stain and added some colorful Tim Holtz Sizzix splats.

Anna-Karin had fun making an art journal page about the new brand year.

It is no surprise that I love to create with Tim Holtz products, and here I used stencils, punches, stamps and dies to create an art journal page about the new year that just started. The background is a dark blue/black, meant to look like a night time sky and inspired by my baby boy’s new jersey. I used gold paint, gold rub-ons and two different gold surfaces to create a festive feeling.

Barbara wishes everyone a Happy New Year!

What better way for me to start this year of challenges! I want to celebrate the new year with a calender inspired by Tim’s products! I used tags and stamps  to display days , Letterpress to show  the year, Idea-ology stuff to enrich my project and  all kind of Distress ! I hope you like it !

Cheiron made something new with something old on this mini canvas by mixing her Dina Wakley paints to make new colors.

I love mixing paints and playing with color so I used Dina Wakley’s color mixing chart to mix up some new paint colors with the Paint Set of 12 I already had. I stamped tissue paper with Archival Ink using the Scribbly Birds in Flight set and added a big die cut word cut from Tim Holtz’s Word Play alphabet die to make my inspirational canvas.

Emma was in her element using Tim Holtz products to create a card to celebrate the New Year!

SomethingNewEmma

I love creating with Tim Holtz products, so for me, this week’s challenge was just perfect! I created a card celebrating the new year and new adventures by using various idea-ology pieces and one of my all time favourite dies, the globe. I added these to a marbled background made of alcohol inks and transparent texture paste, applied through the Lace layering stencil.

Lols needed to make a New Home card for a special friend.

I love the Tim Holtz Bird Crazy Stamp and Die Set and the coordinating Crazy Things set, they are such fun! I have this crazy bird painting the walls of his New Home with the help of a Scribbles and Splat Die Set, and some Distress Ink Pads. I used some Letter Tiles to make the words ‘New Home’, but you know how it is when you play scrabble, the tiles always get jumbled up!

Maura is celebrating the new little wonders in life.

My creative muse led me on a completely different path with this project than where I thought to go – I must have been giddy thinking about using my Tim Holtz stuff. I have been admiring all of the wonderful work by my teamies with this Tim Holtz Flip Frame and knew I had to get one. I love it! I had new supplies to play with, like the Candy Apple Red Distress Paint, the Chevron stencil and the Vintage Platinum Glitter, so of course I had to use them. It was fun digging into my “Tim” stash of old and new products to make this.

Meihsia was inspired to create a spring tag with a new wafer die.

Meihsia Liu Simply Paper Crafts tag Good Times 6001I am looking forward to spring coming although I love beautiful snowy days in winter. On this tag, I first colored the background with Izink inks, then die cut with the new Simon Says Stamp Heart Breeze Wafer Dies. Some Prima Flowers and Tim Holtz Small Talk Sticker were adhere to add more interest.

Sandra’s used a new technique and made some shaker invitations to send out for her upcoming birthday.

I’ve never made a shaker card before, that’s something new for me. I wasn’t planning on making one, but it just went that direction all of a sudden. Love when the inspiration takes me to creative places I never thought I would go. I used the Mini Pocket Watch die to creat the shaker shape and the Retro Circles Embossing Folder with the Pool Paint Dabber to create the background.

Suzz   used some new products, she had recently bought the  Tim Holtz – Sizzix Tiny Tattered Florals   and wanted to play with them.

I decided to create a whimsical flowery tree on a canvas using a mix of the flowers created with Authentique Adore Papers and a hint of Heidi Swapp – Raspberry Art Screen.   The background is a mix of a painted background with  embossed flowers using the Tim Holtz Layering Stencil Doily and Wendy Vecchi White Embossing Paste.

So now it’s YOUR turn to get out your inks, paints and all things arty and start creating! We are looking forward to seeing what you make!
